Ikea Tindra Tealight Candles

On one of our many Ikea trips we have made in recent months we found ourselves purchasing a pack of Ikea Tindra Tealight candles. I have a fascination with candles and simply love the atmosphere they create. On our coffee table we have a couple of small glass dishes which I like to put candles in while they burn as this creates a lovely shadowy effect on the walls. The ideal candle for these dishes are tealight ones and therefore I remember thinking how nice it would be to have some scented ones to add even more atmosphere.

The Scents

Ikea Tindra tealights are available in a variety of scents including Vanilla, Apple and Rose. We chose the rose scented ones as I seem to remember it was pretty close to Valentines day, cheesy, I know!

The different scents have different coloured tealights, i.e.: the vanilla scents are creamy colours and the apple are different shades of green. Our packet of rose scented tealights contains 36 tealights in 3 shades of pink, with the darkest being almost red.

Upon first removing a tealight from the packet I took a deep sniff and was really pleased with the gorgeous scent of roses... just as they should be! The smell was lovely and fresh and in a way rather sweet so because of this I was really looking forward to lighting one and making the room smell nice and flowery.

Light the Candle

I found the tealights really easy to light and I can easily light 2 tealights with just one match. Once lit I was expecting our room to be filled with the lovely soft scent of roses, however, I was slightly disappointed as while the candles do give off a lovely scent when they are unlit I really struggled to detect any kind of scent once they are lit. Most of the time when we have tealights burning we use 2 as we have 2 dishes and I like it to be even, but even with 2 tealights burning we still struggle to smell them unless we sit extremely close to the table. I found this to be really disappointing, especially as this meant that the cheaper scented tealights I had bought in Lidl were much stronger and better.

While the scent from the candles was quite disappointing, I did find that the tealights melt into gorgeous shades of pink when they are lit, with the darkest one turning a really nice deep red. The tealights burn steadily and as the packaging states they will burn for around 4 hours, which I think is perfect for us as we usually have them on in the evening and they burn out at around the time we are heading for bed.

Candle Safety

As with all candles you should observe the safety warnings even for tealights. We always burn our tealights on a heatproof surface, within our glass dishes or on specially designed candle holders because even though they are so small the little metal dishes they are contained in can get really hot.

Price

We bought our tealights in Ikea here in Krakow, but I have checked on Ikeas UK website and it tells me that you can buy them in the UK for £1.69 for a pack of 36 tealights. I think this price is good and it is about the same as what we paid here, however I would like it more if I was getting more scent for my money!

Would I Recommend?

Yes, I would recommend the Ikea Tindra tealights even though they don’t smell very strong, they do look nice and they are a good price, just don’t expect to be whisked away into a garden of roses by the scent!

3 out of 5 stars from me.
