...The Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED is a brilliantly designed multi- format film scanner aimed at professionals but I would seriously recommend it for anyone passionate about photography. It is a joy to use.
It scans 35mm, Medium format 120/220, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 (cm) and 16mm size films. Excellent results with black and white, colour negative and slide film in all the available above formats.
The price for the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED is around £1800 to £2200. Compared to the Imacon range of Flextight scanners which can be anything around £5000 to £12000 the Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED price is instantly more attractive but what about quality?
The Nikon Coolscan produces images that are certainly good enough for professional, commercial and archival uses and fine art exhibiting purposes.

Advantages: cheap replacement cartridges available if you shop around Disadvantages: ink cartridges can be a pain...
..., so anything more than £75 look elsewhere.
Again shopping around for ink is the best option. DURAbrite inks are supplied with the printer, and are recommended - but are pricey. The cheap replacements I've had so far have been fine, although the colour takes a little longer to bed in than I'd hoped. Depending on the amount you'll be printing, I have seen 3 packs of black and colour from £9.49, and I've had no problems with mine so far.
Be warned though, it does say that if you use any other catridges than the epson DURAbrite ink within the warranty period, it will invalidate your warranty. Apparently the printer keeps records of what ink has been used in it. When you change cartridges there is also this annoying warning that comes up to tell you you have just put a non epson ink cartridge in your printer. Overall though, its worth getting...

Advantages: Looks brilliant, huge screen, very powerful Disadvantages: Size and weight (only to be expected), short battery time
...- all I needed to do was install the new version of Norton Internet Security on the desktop - so HP customer suppport couldn't really have done anything about it... Only problem with this is that it takes a while to send files to the printer (about 20 seconds for a 2 page Word document), but this is probably because of the speed of my wireless network, rather than my PC.]
Operating System:
The computer runs Windows Vista Home Premium, which looks and feels very good. There are still some compatibility issues with some programs (such as Stronghold 2, which I needed to contact the manufacturer for an extra bit of software, but is now working :) ), but this isn't really the place to discuss the merits of Windows Vista, since this isn't specific to the laptop.
Price:
I bought my PC for £949.99 from Comet's website, but I have seen recently...
