In "Bravo Two Zero", Andy McNab gave an account of his experiences as commander of an SAS patrol behind enemy lines in Iraq. Now he tells the story of his life, from the day he was...

As a delinquent youth, McNab kicked against society; as a young soldier he waged war against the IRA in the streets and fields of South Armagh; and as a member of 22 SAS Regiment he was at the centre of covert operations for nine years, on five continents. In this book he details his activities in a world of surveillance and intelligence-gathering, counter-terrorism and hostage rescue. See all Product Description

Full review
Andy McNab, author of Bravo Two Zero, is back with another book about his time in the British SAS Regiment, with "Immediate Action".

Not focusing on any event in particular, Immediate Action portrays his life in the Regiment, from when he first went into selection, all the way through to the various missions he endured in his time there. Each chapter is fairly lengthy, with a lot of detail in it, helping you to understand how the task at hand was for those who had to do it. Some of them are quite shocking.

The book follows on from where Bravo Two Zero left off really. While McNab's previous book describes the actions and events of what happened to McNab and his team in Iraq, Immediate Action focuses more on his life as a solider, but does brush briefly past what happened in Bravo Two Zero.

The book itself is extremely well written, with a lot of technical terms used for the weaponary and equipment they used. It is also quite informative, describing how the SAS go through selection in the Breken Beacons and their various tactics and strategies. It's incredibly interesting.

Immediate Action features some pages in the centre of the book, with pictures of McNab's various pieces of equipment, and some of his colleagues from the Regiment. It helps put name to face when reading about the missions they endured together.

All in all, McNab's sequel to Bravo Two Zero is a pretty good read, which is interesting to any person who is interested in the SAS or just looking for a very dramatic book to read.
