i love this book. it is quite long and takes a little while to find its feet but it is beautifully original and novel and should be read for anyone who has pretensions of one day being a writer themselves. there are two stories which run parallel to each other and intertwine. both are equally captivating and never cease to throw the reader back and forth between them. one of them concerns the great german academic and philosopher goethe. it is a telling insight into his coloured love life and is a tender portrayal of human emotion. the ending of the story is a clever reallignment of the two strands and you will arrive at the end not really noticing what has happened. a veritable journey of a read.
