Saturday night started off with a bottle of Rioja during the Grand National, which led to a visit to the pub to spend my winnings which were enough for a round, of JD and cokes for everyone. This inevitably led to more JD and coke intermingled with Erdinger, Vodka and coke, Kronenbourg (for some reason that escapes me), Tequila, Sambuca and Jaegermeister, all topped off with a Kebab on the way home. Not surprisingly this led to a case of explosive squits which I put down to the Kronenbourg as it tasted funny……
I needed a cure and needed it fast, I was not even sure that I was going to make it as far as Boots, especially after I had an accident in the lift which ruined a pair of pants and an old pair of jeans. Upon entering Boots I immediately spotted the Immodium Instants and as it would be a good ten minutes before I got home then it had to be these babies.
So I slapped a fiver on the counter and got a couple of quids worth of change. There was no time to read the instructions I had popped two of these babies (leaving 4 in the packet for later use) into my mouth before leaving the shop, which is the correct initial dosage. The instructions say to take two initially then one more on every loose bowel movement, further tablets were not necessary, as they did work almost instantly, and I was feeling safer by the time I returned to the car. The taste was not unpleasant but still needed a bottle of IRN BRU to wash it down.
The active ingredient in these tablets is loperamide and it can have the following side effects:-
black or bloody stools bloated, swollen feeling in your abdomen blurred vision loss of appetite skin rash stomach pain
All of these will require medical attention……. The other side effects that do not require medical attention are:-
drowsiness or dizziness dry mouth constipation nausea, vomiting tiredness
The only one I have encountered is constipation for a couple of days after them, however this is infinitely preferable to explosive skitters is it not?????, and finally if you are preggers, breast feeding or have liver disease then consult your quack before taking these.
A word of warning if you suffer from constiaption after taking this you will notice a feeling of violation when you have your first poo a couple of days later.
Advantages: Very quick to treat the problem, no water needed Disadvantages: Bungs you up, expensive compared to chemists own brand
Now, I must first point out my review is on ImodiumInstants, I did do a product proposal twice on ImodiumInstants but I never heard back from Ciao.....(methinks summer has hit Ciao headquarters!).
I recently had surgery on my tummy in June which involved my bowel and it has occasionally left me with, shall we say a loose tummy. My consultant in the hospital told me this might happen and recommended Imodium to treat the problem after 2 weeks post-op.
I didn't suffer initially but when I did, it was bad and husband had to make a 3am trip to Asda to get me Imodium. I hadn't asked for the instants brand but that's what he came back with, a 6 pill carton for £3.89, I immediately thought this was expensive as you can generally buy the active ingredient of Imodium, Loperamide Hydrochloride 2mg, unbranded, in a 12 pack for anywhere ...

.
Recently, something did the rounds of the college where the other half is completing his training, and the result was a combination of the above descriptions. This was fine while he was at home the previous afternoon, but when the next morning arrived and the trots were still present, it dawned on us that extra measures had to be taken. A nice long train trip every morning, is guaranteed to be a real problem if your bum is in overdrive. Sitting an exam? maybe not
A trip to the chemist was involved and I came back with a new version of Imodium.
***What have I got?
A box of twelve ImodiumInstant melts. These set me back £6.50 in my high street chemist. The box is white and pale blue with a thin orange line going across the middle. On the front is stated that this is a new Imodium, that they are instant melts, the amount contained by ...

As with any medicine read the information on the packet before taking.
Imodium is not suitable for children under 12
Thank you for reading I hope you do not need this medicine but I find its always useful to take on holiday just in case ...
