The producers of this product claim it is a quick and easy way to moisturise the skin, the spray helps 'provide day-long moisture to leave your skin at its best.' In my review, I partly agree with their arguments.
I bought the Impulse moisturising spray about nine months ago on special offer (buy one get one free) from Superdrug for around £3. The impulse moisturising spray caught my attention because of the pleasantly designed bottle. It is a good size, not very big and bulky but not so small you get hardly anything for your money. I have taken it on holiday and I think it is a very handy size. The bottle provides 100ml and has a fading colour scheme of blue to white to the top. The design reinforces the idea that the product is refreshing and simple to use.
I have used many impulse sprays before and I love the scents they create but I have always found the effect does not last very long. Therefore, I thought I'd give this moisturising spray a go because you are supposed to gently stroke the spray into your skin, which I thought would make the scent last longer.
To use the spray, you shake the bottle first and apply the spray to the body from a distance of 15cm. The spray nozzle works really well as just the right amount comes out. Sometimes I have used products that you continually have to shake to drag a drop out or with one little squirt, half the product spills all over you. After you have sprayed it, just gently stroke - you really do not need to rub it- into the skin. One of the things that impressed me was how quickly the spray is absorbed so I can use the product when I am in a rush.
Impulse say for best results, use twice - day and night but I think the moisturising power of the spray is not strong enough to replace a conventional moisturiser. I normally use baby oil, so when I used this product for a little while instead of my moisturiser, my skin became slightly dryer. Therefore, I stopped using this product that frequently. I now use this product just before I am about to go out because it is more useful for its smell rather than moisturising purposes. I spray a small amount on my neck, shoulders and arms, and it smells wonderful.
However, if the product is used very frequently, I think it would finish very quickly around two weeks and would work out very expensive if not on special offer. As I only use it occasionally, I have finished one bottle and just started the second and last bottle. I might buy more if the price is right.
This product is not to be used on broken or irritated skin and the ingredients (for the scientists!) are: aqua, alcohol denat. glycerin, parfum, octyl methoxycinnamate, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, panthenol, tocopheryl acetate, aloe barbadensis, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, propylparaben. The bottle can be recycled after use.
Overall, I really like to use this product occasionally because it has a soft, flowery scent and is easily applied - the spray is light and refreshing just as Impulse claim. However, as a moisturiser it is not completely effective and does not compare well with other products on the market. For someone with a very hectic lifestyle, this is very handy because it absorbs so quickly and initially smells great. Like most impulse products that I have tried, the scent tends to fade quicker than I would like but the bottle is a very handy size for people with big handbags, so it can be reapplied easily. I would recommend this product to people not as a replacement moisturiser but as a light, pleasant smelling scent.
