Out of Focus customer care.

Advantages: Cheap for the level of resolution
Disadvantages: Poor customer and aftersales - not a home cinema projector

The Infocus IN26XGA looked a good spec for the money. First disappointment was the input sockets. The information provided implied the projector had video ?component? connections but the RGB connection is only via the RS 232 (VESA) port, which can be done via an adaptor/accessory but this is not provided. Also you have to have a ?component? connection to achieve the higher levels of resolution the projector has, otherwise it is pointless paying for the extra picture resolution. There was no manual provided and information on the CD provided was scant. This may not have been a problem but the projector only produced very small scale pictures and it was not clear if this was by design or because the zoom was not working. The InFocus web site was also of no help and just added to the disappointment, particularly as it was not clear how ...

Review of InFocus Work Big IN26+

It Works for me....sometimes....!

Advantages: Cheap. Good for buying presents.
Disadvantages: Sell a lot of titles you've never heard of....

The Works is a discount bookstore which can be found on many high streets. I have browsed around a fair few discount bookstores, but have always found this store to be the best in it?s class. Overall, I tend to find that a lot of discount bookstores sell a lot of uninteresting titles, & books you?ve never heard of. The Works does also fall into this category, but seems to also sell more bestsellers than other stores (often current ones at that), covering a wide range of authors. Books are laid out according to genre & are for the most part stacked on shelves with the cover facing forwards, so that you can see at a glance what titles are in stock. The more popular fiction & bestsellers are laid out on tables at the front of the store, with reference books & childrens books being on shelves running down the sides & back of the store ...

Review of The Works

Work It Out

Advantages: Cheap, random selection
Disadvantages: Random selection, rather hit and miss

? hardback ? was £16.99, Works price £2.99. These kind of discounts are quite common, and sometimes I wonder how they do them (especially when books bear previous higher prices from other shops). The books are often those that haven?t sold well or are now out in paperback, so The Works seems to do a lot of overstock clearout, rather than ?fell off the back of a lorry? or second hand books. Big sellers like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and the like are all present and correct (generally retailing at a slight reduction, e.g. £4.99 or £5.99). I was able to pick up ?About A Boy? for £3.99 for my mum?s birthday last year, and there?s also a regular supply of unheard of paperbacks for £1.99 each ? a bit pot-luck I guess, but maybe worth taking a chance for a cheap holiday read when you know you haven?t lost much, and might be able to get your ...
