Advantages: Cheap for the level of resolution Disadvantages: Poor customer and aftersales - not a home cinema projector
The Infocus IN26XGA looked a good spec for the money. First disappointment was the input sockets. The information provided implied the projector had video ?component? connections but the RGB connection is only via the RS 232 (VESA) port, which can be done via an adaptor/accessory but this is not provided. Also you have to have a ?component? connection to achieve the higher levels of resolution the projector has, otherwise it is pointless paying for the extra picture resolution.
There was no manual provided and information on the CD provided was scant. This may not have been a problem but the projector only produced very small scale pictures and it was not clear if this was by design or because the zoom was not working. The InFocus web site was also of no help and just added to the disappointment, particularly as it was not clear how ...
Advantages: Easy to follow, bullet points, pictures useful and informative Disadvantages: The random rubbish bits about pledges
Well seeing as I can barely cook beans on toast and I'm wanting to move into my own place I thought it was about time I left my mum's gorgeous home cooked meals and have a go myself.
So after trekking through a whole lot of cook books and trying different reciepes I found Jamie's Ministry of Food- Anyone can learn to cook in24 hours.
I have never watched any of Jamie Oliver's TV series and apparently the book is based on a trip "Up-North" where Jamie Oliver teaches people how to cook??? Correct me if I'm wrong here.
So the book itself.......
--CONTENT--
Well there's some strange bit in the introduction about Jamie wanting you to pass on a reciepe when you've tried it out. Well I suppose it's a good idea and if someone wants it I can pass it on. Then there's some garble about what the ministry of food is all about and what ...
Advantages: No jargon, useful pictures, descriptive recipes Disadvantages: A little pricey, large book.
The fella is a chef. My fella that is, not Jamie Oliver, although, of couse, he is a chef too. Let me start again....
My fella bought me Jamie's Ministry of Food because I, quite famously, can't cook. I'll give anything a go if I have a recipe in front of me, but I think I'm lacking technique or something because all my efforts never quite look (or taste) like the book tells me it should. Except cakes. For some reason I'm a dab hand with cakes. Go figure....
Anyway, this food bible has been siting our bookshelf for about 6 months and I thought I'd better open it and find out exactly how I'm going to learn to cook something other than Victoria Sponge in24 hours. I must admit to being somewhat sceptical - how can someone so obviously competant as Jamie Oliver write intructions for someone so culinary-challenged as myself ...
