In The Night Garden is a children's programme shown on the cBeebies twice daily. It is becoming increasingly popular and just like the Teletubbies before this the goods that go along with the programme are becoming increasing varied and for the delight of the makers, increasing popular also. This small book set is no different.

Each book is relating to a different character from the children programme. There is a book for Upsy Daisy, one for Makka Pakka, Igglepiggle has one, the Ninky Nonk ... more
Little Library- In The Night Garden Board Books
In The Night Garden is a children's programme shown on the cBeebies twice daily. It is becoming increasingly popular and just like the Teletubbies before this the goods that go along with the programme are becoming increasing varied and for the delight of the makers, increasing popular also. This small book set is no different. As one of my books in the 3 for 2 offer at my local bookstore I picked up a bargain as these retail for £3.99pence but with the special offer on, one book or in this case six small books cost me just £2.66p per book. Now as I have said this small set of books comes in a packet of six. Each book is made from board and they are all housed neatly in a small sleeve like box, with an open front. Each book is relating to a different character from the children programme. There is a book for Upsy Daisy, one for Makka Pakka, Igglepiggle has one, the Ninky Nonk & Pinky Ponk appear together in one, All three of the Tombliboos share one and the final one is staring all the Night Garden Friends. Each book and the sleeve are around 3 inches squared in size and, just like the fact they are made of board, perfect for small fingers and hands. On the back cover of each of the books there is part of a large photo picture and if they were all laid out together on the floor would make up a large photo puzzle showing all of the Night Garden characters. Each book is only a short eight pages but each one colourful and bright. The books have not really got stories written in them more statements and facts about the characters from the show. Each book will tell you a bit about the charter that is written in the title. Igglepiggle's book says that Igglepiggle loves his red blanket and that his best friend is Upsy Daisy. Makka Pakka's book tells us about how Makka Pakka likes to wash faces and that he pushes around his Og-pog. Each book cvontinues along these lines being more factual information than a story.I didn't realise that these books were like this and I thought that each one told a different story. I find this idea of giving facts about the programme in the books rather pointless, as we know all these things already. I would of much preferred to have had six little stories each one about the character. Because the books were wrapper in cellophane there was no way to have a look inside the books and see what they were like. The sleeve of the books which is the outer packaging says nothing at all and gives no other information away other than the fact it is a Little Library for In The Night Garden and the barcode and publisher information. This tells the buyer nothing of what they are getting inside the books.I was rather disappointed with this selections of books as stories would have been far better even if they were only very simple. They are lovely looking books with still great colours and great photos of the programme but just not as good as a selection of story books would have been.We still read these books and Jack loves just the fact he can recognise his favourite characters and he gives little squeals of delight when I turn the pages. He finds the books easy to hold and even reading all six of them his interest is still held on looking at the pictures and listening to me say the words. The books I suppose are verifying what is already known but spelling things out too. I suppose is still interesting but because I thought I was getting something quite different I am still very disappointed with these books. The price you pay for getting the six books is good and it is nice that they come in a small little box sleeve. Jack loves to hold them and I think he enjoys them so I don't think they are all bad. I am going to give these In The Night Garden Little Library books a total of 7/10, which I think is an OK score to get considering how simple they were. I would recommend them to people but I think the packaging should give more information on the item that your getting just so people are aware.I hope this has been of some help to you.

Review of In the Night Garden: Little Library (In the Night Garden)
Advantages: There pocket size and have all the favourite characters on them. Disadvantages: The pictures are slightly dark.
...The six books come in a small cardboard case which has a picture of one of the main characters Iggle Piggle on the front. The books have 8 pages not including the front and back page and are like small board books so they don't rip easily. Each book tells you about a different character from the programme and says what they like doing or little phrases they say. On the front of the books it has a picture of the character and each book is different ... ...negative thing is the pictures in the book are quite dark you can make out the characters but being a bit brighter would have been better. Another good thing about the books is when you turn over the books you will see if you lay them down in order it will make a picture of all the characters together. I think this makes it fun for your child and they will enjoy trying to put them together. The books are pocket size which I think is ideal as when ...

Advantages: Bright & fun Disadvantages: Poorly made outer box/slip cover
...small board books and comes in a little box/slip cover to store them in.
The books themselves are great - especially as the books are small (approx 4" x 3.5") ideal for little hands. Each book shows charactors you see on ITNG with lovely bright pictures The box/ slipcover they go in are just thin cardboard which my son sadly destroyed within days. So my only moan about this item is the box could have been made better.
The books each have part of ...
