My boyfriend has an allergy to washing up liquid. I know, convenient isn't it? So for the last few years, I have had to do the bulk of the washing up, which started to drive me crazy - life is just too short. Being on a tight budget, I worked out the maximum I could afford to spend on a dishwasher was £200 and since we live in a tiny cottage, it had to be a slimline or nothing. I did a lot of research and found the Indesit IDL40. I wanted as high an energy efficiency rating as possible, and this one is A rated. Depending on where you look, it is rated either AAA (efficiency, cleaning and drying) or ABB. In the packaging that came with it it claims to be AAA and my experience of its cleaning is pretty good. In terms of installation, it is pretty easy. My boyfriend would have preferred one which connected to the hot water rather than the cold, becuase it's more efficient to use water we've already heated then heating from cold, but that's not a big deal. In terms of cleaning, it gets through some pretty bad burnt on stuff on the bottom of pans very well, although I have sometimes had to put a pan in twice to get it completely clean. Drying wise, it does not get plastic bowls etc perfectly dry but everything else comes out sparkling. We always use it on setting two, which is the economy mode and put it on overnight. It is not that noisy - if you are right next to it it's quite loud (just the noise of water squirting around though) but from other rooms we never notice it. If we're in a rush for it, we put it through on the "Time for You" setting, which takes about an hour and a half. Our only gripe with it is that the start button sometimes takes a couple of shots to work. I usually press it firmly once then let it go and after a few seconds it starts up. My boyfriend finds that doesn't always work, so he changes the dial setting, then presses the button, which always makes it work. It may just be something that is wrong with our machine and it is certainly not something that makes me regret getting this model. In fact, I am delighted with it and as life has been pretty stressful at work lately, without it I suspect I might have gone crazy! It's a great machine, which looks smart, works brilliantly, and is great value. It's easy to load with plenty of room and manages the amount of dirty dishes created by two people perfectly. If you need a slimline dishwasher for under £200, I would highly recommend this one.
Advantages: Quiet, fast and efficient Disadvantages: Have not found any
Old dishwasher died three weeks before Christmas, needed a slimline dishwasher and plumped for this one. All I can say is that it is excellent. Fast, efficient and quiet. My only grumbles would be that the cutlery container takes some getting used to as it tends to fall over and the dishwash tablet container could be reshaped . Other than that I have found it excellent, particularily as the top shelf has two levels, so it gives more space for larger ... ...is very effective and very rarely have I found any dried on residue after the full cycle, very good cleaner of ovenproof cookware---------great for just myself and more than efficient when I have guests. Easily fitted and idiot proof to use.
By the way bought from internet high street chain---not on this site, delivered, fitted and old one removed-----------very good price------hot stuff ...

Advantages: its really compact and easy to use and the silber is really modern looking Disadvantages: the salt dispenser is a little hard to get to being a slimline version
W e purchased this brand just over a year ago and to our dismay 3 weeks out of the guarantee it broke down. We phoned the engineers to be told it sounded like the pump had gone and it would be 99 pounds. After a bit of internet searching i found a brilliant website called how do i fix and someone had posted instructions on how to strip it. I t turned out to be an tomato pip that was lodged inside of something in the pump of all things. After taking ...
