When the old family washing machine finally packed up after a good 9 year run (R.I.P) it was time to time to turn our attention towards getting a new machine to live up to the old one's speeds, reliability and general performance. It was quite a few months ago now that we were flicking through an old Argos catalogue looking for a new machine.
The criteria that had to be met were: 1) High speeds for those stubborn stains
2) A good energy rating, so I feel like i'm doing my bit.

As previously stated we bought it from the Argos catalogue which is the general done thing in my house for some reason. The washing machine looks very unique, the blue door and silver machine is really quite stylish and is a nice edition in our kitchen. Washing powder/tablets/fabric softener or whatever else is loaded into the inside of the door. This is much more convenient than having to clean the tray with other machines, but you should also be warned if you miss, there is much more chance everything will end up on the floor! Though there are clear and simple instructions on how to put in detergent in the form of trouble-free fill levels so there shouldn't be too much of a problem here.
Washing itself couldn't be simpler! The machine only has 6 buttons and one of those is the power button! I know you're thinking 'well that's way too oversimplified' or 'they must've left buttons out!' but I will say now I haven't used a washing machine that is more simple to use that did such a great job at getting my clothes clean. The buttons operate as follows:
The first wash is great for those 'I need my clothes now' times provided they are not full of grime and you'll see they are all pretty fast cycles.
To start a wash you bung in your clothes, fill in the in-door tray and then press the power button which starts up the blue LED display on the front of the washer. Once you close the door it immediately locks itself and you should see a little red light. Select the cycle you want then you get to waft away and maybe watch a bit of TV in peace. The cycle is incredibly quiet even at its top speed! You can leave it to its own devices but if you are waiting on a wash, the bright blue LED lights let you see how much longer you'll have to wait. The more lights the less time you'll have to wait and once the wash is complete they fade in and out until you press the power button again.
I do love the new Indesit and might even goes as far as to say it's even better than the old Hotpoint washer, like a prettier, younger more virile model.
The machine has a multitude of great little features including:
Automatic washing temperature regulation.
A Load Balancing System
Rinse Management controlled by sensors which extends the rinse cycle until there is no detergent left.
Before you rush out and buy you should note that if you overfill the wash or put in excessive soap etc you may return to discover your floor covered with soapy water because the washer has a release mechanism to stop it from breaking down supposedly but this doesn't apply to you or me because we're 'good' and would never do that.
If anything does go wrong though the machine comes with a warrantee.
Advantages: Great to look at, really really easy to use Disadvantages: Lacks the functions of similarly priced machines
The Indesit Moon is, as far as kitchen appliances go, a thing of beauty. Whilst I know deep down that it is very very wrong to like a washing machine this much, darn it, I just can't help myself! I'm going to be straight with you - housework isn't my thing. By any stretch of the imagination! So when my boyfriend and I decided to finally get our own place, a washing machine was not top of my list of purchases...that it until I fell in love in the ... ...Moon certainly it eye-catching. Simple and sleek, with a solid contrasting door (mine is silver with a blue door - lovely stuff!) and a light up control panel, it just looks strikingly different to run of the mill washers. Most washing machines look boring, or sturdy, or economical. This just looks…nice.
The moon isn't just a pretty face, but if I'm honest, that's its major selling point. It appears to be just about the only washer on the market ...

Advantages: Design, Simplicity, Efficiency Disadvantages: No spin only cycle
...I laid eyes on the Indesit Moon. My first thought was the price, surely a machine of such futuristic sleek design would have a whopping great price tag attatched, but No! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw that this machine was priced at under £300. Needless to say I ordered one right away.
As soon as it was plumbed in I was in awe of it's beauty, one press of the on switch and my machine made a pleasant little digital noise and lit up with ... ...moved onto the opening of the door where I discovered the detergent dispenser, three handy compartments complete with windows, the first for liquid detergent, second for powders and a third for fabric conditioner. The machine comes with it's own handy little measuring cup which has a spout for making it easy to fill any of the compartments.
Selecting a wash cycle couldn't be easier as it's all done at the touch of a button. there are four basic ...

...any other washing machine. The INDESIT MOON SIXL145S washing machine offers a 6Kg drum capacity and 1400 rpm spin. Quick review of Indesit MOON SIXL145
This was my 2nd choice washing machine as the hotpoint one i was waiting for was out of stock for weeks on end. The advantages of this machine is that the kids cant tamper with it, it only has 4 buttons and once the wash is started its difficult for them to stop it, its quiet and fits nicely into any modern kitchen. he downsides are that their is no quick wash feature meaning that a 40 degree wash takes 2hrs, not so practical when you get off holiday and have got 100s of clothes to wash. In my opinion not worth the 300 quid i payed for it. ...
