The Indesit Moon is, as far as kitchen appliances go, a thing of beauty. Whilst I know deep down that it is very very wrong to like a washing machine this much, darn it, I just can't help myself!
I'm going to be straight with you - housework isn't my thing. By any stretch of the imagination! So when my boyfriend and I decided to finally get our own place, a washing machine was not top of my list of purchases...that it until I fell in love in the middle of Comet...well, maybe love is a bit strong...but the Moon certainly it eye-catching.
Simple and sleek, with a solid contrasting door (mine is silver with a blue door - lovely stuff!) and a light up control panel, it just looks strikingly different to run of the mill washers. Most washing machines look boring, or sturdy, or economical. This just looks…nice.
The moon isn't just a pretty face, but if I'm honest, that's its major selling point. It appears to be just about the only washer on the market that has had any thought put into the design. Once I'd seen the Moon I knew I wasn't going to be happy with any old ugly washer in my lovely new kitchen.
So enough about its looks, is it actually any better than standard washers it hear you cry…
The moon has a 1400 rpm spin which is better than some washers in the same price range (it will normally set you back between £280-£300)
Rather than the traditional dial-and-button mess on most washers it comes with a pretty light up button which allows you to set the wash off with one touch - this is a major bonus as far as I'm concerned as I'm hopeful that my fella might manage to put the odd wash on himself - so far its just been me although he was quite impressed with the washer when it was delivered.
Rather wonderfully, the solid door conceals the self cleaning detergent dispenser - no more gunky soap draws for me! Self cleaning is always a good thing in my book and thus far the function appears to be working pretty well. The door based dispenser also apparently increases cleaning power by 50% - I'm gonna take their word at that one although my clothes have not seemed any extra clean! The moon runs pretty quietly and apparently has pretty low energy consumption which is always a bonus - it's a*AB rated which isn't the best in this price range but its fairly average.
Impressively, the Moon also senses when there is any detergent left in the fabric and will rinse to remove any remaining traces, which is good if you've put hand washed stuff in to spin. I've got quite sensitive skin (bless my cotton socks!) so this is quite a useful feature for me.
The Moon has quite simplified cycle options - 60 degrees, 40 degrees with easy iron (hooray!), 30 degrees for delicates - either with or without a spin cycle or 30 minutes speed wash which will automatically spin hand washed items or give them an extra rinse if required. It also has a very pretty time remaining indicator which seems to light up my whole kitchen.
The Moon is a great, modern looking washer with easy to use functions and pretty good energy usage. However, there are downsides, every rose has its thorns after all!
Most other washers in the £280 - £300 range have more features than the Moon. Its load capacity is also one of the lowest, taking only 6kg as opposed to the whopping 8kg of the CANDY GO1482. It doesn't come with a timer delay which is a bit disappointing.
The Moon is the ideal washing machine for a young couple with no kids who are happy to wash most things at 40 degrees and want something that's easy to use and not hideous to look at. You can't fault the looks of the Moon or the simplicity of its interface. If you are the sort of person who sorts through their laundry and takes great care in choosing the cycle, choose another washer. If you have a family wand want to wash hundreds of school shirts/nappies/football kits etc then you can probably get a more efficient washer with a bigger drum.
However, if you want a washer that cleans itself, has smart enough technology to make most of the laundry decisions for you, really stupidly easy to use and will look pretty snazzy in your kitchen, this is the ideal machine for you.
Advantages: Design, Simplicity, Efficiency Disadvantages: No spin only cycle
...I laid eyes on the Indesit Moon. My first thought was the price, surely a machine of such futuristic sleek design would have a whopping great price tag attatched, but No! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw that this machine was priced at under £300. Needless to say I ordered one right away.
As soon as it was plumbed in I was in awe of it's beauty, one press of the on switch and my machine made a pleasant little digital noise and lit up with ... ...moved onto the opening of the door where I discovered the detergent dispenser, three handy compartments complete with windows, the first for liquid detergent, second for powders and a third for fabric conditioner. The machine comes with it's own handy little measuring cup which has a spout for making it easy to fill any of the compartments.
Selecting a wash cycle couldn't be easier as it's all done at the touch of a button. there are four basic ...

This was my 2nd choice washing machine as the hotpoint one i was waiting for was out of stock for weeks on end. The advantages of this machine is that the kids cant tamper with it, it only has 4 buttons and once the wash is started its difficult for them to stop it, its quiet and fits nicely into any modern kitchen. he downsides are that their is no quick wash feature meaning that a 40 degree wash takes 2hrs, not so practical when you get off holiday and have got 100s of clothes to wash. In my opinion not worth the 300 quid i payed for it.

Indesit moon SIXL45S,6mths old, started to leave slimey residue on clothes. After washing full white wash and then washing a dark wash it comes out covered in fibres from my white wash and vice versa.Engineer advised detergent build up.Advised not to use liquid, opposite to Manufacture Booklet and to use Bold or Aerial.Slime due to limescale build up & do not live in hard water area. Sold descaler for £15.Told 2 add 1 sachet to a 60 standalone wash to rectify each mth. A week later, 2 sachets down, my problem still there.Telephoned indesit to complain.2nd engineer coming, however if he plugs in technical computer that is supposed to pick up any fault with the washer and it says no fault, I will be charged £43.50.They wont replace!
