As much as it's hard to say goodbye to an old beloved kitchenappliance that has served you well, there is a certain excitement in chosing a replacement. For me this was my washing machine.
I decided it was time to 'Go Green' and searched for an energy efficient grade 'A' model as we all have to do our bit towards saving the enviroment.
My search came to an end when I laid eyes on the Indesit Moon. My first thought was the price, surely a machine of such futuristic sleek design would have a whopping great price tag attatched, but No! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw that this machine was priced at under £300. Needless to say I ordered one right away.
As soon as it was plumbed in I was in awe of it's beauty, one press of the on switch and my machine made a pleasant little digital noise and lit up with the most amazing blue LED lights.
I then moved onto the opening of the door where I discovered the detergent dispenser, three handy compartments complete with windows, the first for liquid detergent, second for powders and a third for fabric conditioner. The machine comes with it's own handy little measuring cup which has a spout for making it easy to fill any of the compartments.
Selecting a wash cycle couldn't be easier as it's all done at the touch of a button. there are four basic buttons which are...... 60 degree wash 40 degree wash 30 degree delicate wash 30 degree 30 minute quick wash but there are also other washes available that require a combination of buttons to be pressed. This is all explained on the handy chart inside the door. The progress of a cycle is easy to check as the inner circle of lights light up as it washes. It really is an all singing all dancing piece of machinery.
There are drawbacks to having an item of such beauty though, firstly there is no 90 degree wash. To be honest though this machine performs and cleans well enough that I havent missed my old boil wash. Secondly it has a built in rinse feature that means it will continue rinsing if it detects any detergent residue at the end of the cycle not a problem as such but can extend the wash time considerably, not good when on a tight schedule and desperately waiting for clothes to come out of the machine. Thirdly and most importantly there is no spin only cycle on this machine a feature which may have put me off buying if I'd thought about it for long enough, Glad I didnt think long enough though as the Pro's far outweigh the Con's and the drawbacks I mention are all what give the machine it's 'Green' rating.
