Advantages: Looks good, you don't have to got to the laundrett Disadvantages: Not the best deal
...any problems. We bought the Indesit because it was cheap and our last washing machine was made by Indesit and was very good. It was this, which we based our decision on. Now personally since looking at the reviews people have already written on here I’m starting to wish that my parents bought another one. Here’s my own review on the machine and being positive I’ll start with a good point.
The first major good point about any product ... ...to calling out someone from Indesit in a lot of the scenarios, to me this sounds like they’re trying to get your money as call out charges are very expensive. Having said that it can be better to call someone out instead of running the risk of turning it on and it leaking everywhere, o dear time to ring up the home insurance, “we’ve wrecked our brand new kitchen”!
The set up instructions aren’t too good either but again I believe this ... more
Ok, the new washing machine, we’ve had it for 2 months now and so far so good and we haven’t had any problems.
The first major good point about any product is the price, it is cheap, it might not wash your clothes as well as another machine but it fills with water and spins them about.
It has a temperature dial but we generally don’t wash our clothes at any temperature higher than 60. Tell me if I’m wrong but who needs to wash at 90 degrees, it wastes energy and in my opinion is an unnecessarily high setting.
I suppose in a way it’s a good thing that it does have a wide range of temperature settings though allowing the scope for washing many different things, you can set it to wash with cold water or as hot as 90 degrees, it goes up in 10 degree blocks though, so for example, you can’t set it to wash at 45 degrees.
The machine has three buttons in the centre, these are well positioned and visible, an on and off button (essential for anything really) an economy button (this could save you on your bills and at the same time is more environmentally friendly), and last of all an anti crease button, (I have no idea how this is suppose to work but the point is I find you still have to do just as much ironing as you would without the function on).
The power button has a red LED light that comes on when the washing machine is switched on, this is not the case with the other buttons however which I think would have made it look better.
The instructions aren’t terribly easy to follow and it does lead you to calling out someone from Indesit in a lot of the scenarios, to me this sounds like they’re trying to get your money as call out charges are very expensive. Having said that it can be better to call someone out instead of running the risk of turning it on and it leaking everywhere, o dear time to ring up the home insurance, “we’ve wrecked our brand new kitchen”!
The set up instructions aren’t too good either but again I believe this is another area in which there’s cause for calling someone out.
The machine and the quality of the instruction books do match the cheap price, when it comes to machines it is often what you get is what you pay for.
So far having not needed to call out someone from Indesit I have not had a view on their customer service for the new machine. However…
Allow me to tell you a little story…
When we had our last machine, we bought the extra warranty with it, that’s because we had five people living at home at the time and two were working, you all know how much washing that is. We also got it because of the fact that we live in a hard water area and our washing machines do breakdown quite a bit.
The machine we had broke down (our last Indesit one) and was still on warranty, and had developed an intermittent fault, we don’t know what exactly was wrong with it, we rang up Indesit to come out and have a look but didn’t bother to have someone out, this is because if the fault didn’t occur when the person came to fix the machine we would have been charged a call out fee. On a good side, they did inform us of this potential bill on the phone.
I have no idea if this is the same policy as every other company but in my opinion warranty means if there’s something wrong with the product it gets fixed free of charge. So this part of the service was poor in my opinion.
Ending on a good note, the machine is a cheap machine and so you should expect a lower wash quality. But watch out for clauses in the warranty papers, especially if your buying extra warranty like we did.
The advise I would give anyone to buying a new washing machine is this, number one you should read any reviews on here, they give a good starting point on your decision.
Then do consider if you live in a hard water area, this will limit the performance of any washing machine as it furs up very quickly. We buy the cheap ones because of this reason; no washing machine cheap or expensive lasts very long in our house due to this lime scale factor. If you have the same problem then do consider the cost of buying tablets to clean the machine but I’ve found this can be more expensive than buying a new machine, especially considering we do so much washing every week.
Thanks for reading the review! :)
I need some new rechargeable batteries for my camera so until I get them I won’t be able to add pictures to my review, but will send a message to everyone who rates this when I’ve done them!
Advantages: Value for money, simple, reliable Disadvantages: Can be difficult to judge wash times
...I'd heard good things about indesit reliability, particularly with washing machines, so I thought I could do no harm in sticking with this model.
It has pretty basic features - 11 wash programs including a 30 minute daily wash - and temperatures from cool-90 degreesC depending. Also a variety of textile types are catered for in the wash programs, none of which I have ever had any problem with from wool to synthetics to fast coloured to white cotton ... ...of which is "anti-crease" and "extra economy" the latter of which is useful for small loads or less soiled items. In 4 years, we have never had a breakdown and only really had minor niggles with it. But, to be fair, I've been to blame for all of them. The first few niggles were when I left paper clips in my shirt pocket, and they blocked the drainage system so water was left in the drum - easily fixed yourself by removing the front panel and unscrewing ...

Advantages: It's cheap Disadvantages: It's unreliable, breaks down all the time. Not worth the money.
The Indesit W103 is the biggest heap of junk ever made!
We bought ours when we first boguht our house, in 2000. It never really washed clothes particularly well, but we put up with it because it was the cheapest washing machine we could find at the time. It was priced at around £189 back then.
The Indesit W103 washing machine is a nice looking but basic no-frills washing machine. It has just two option buttons, anti-crease and economy, although ... ...would be not to touch Indesit washing machines with a barge pole. We have now got a reasonably priced Zanussi from John Lewis for only £40 more than we paid for the W103. It works perfectly so far and Zanussi have a good reputation!
Features: - Front Load - 20 wash presets
- Overall Depth 52.5 cm - Overall Height 85.01 cm - Overall Width 59.51 cm - 1000 RPM spin speed - 5kg maximum wash capacity - Anti crease wash & extra economy wash options - ...

It does not do its job of washing properly. I had it 12months and the lettering around the timer started to rub which I had to replace and was told to only clean the washer with water (no cleaners ) else the same would happen again, now 6 months later my programmer has mal-functioned (which i have looked up on the internet and found out that its a common fault to these washers) even my technician cant find the problem, he checked everything then ... ...have asked him to replace it that will cost £100, then it still might not work. Why are they allowed to sell these awful machines when so many people have had problems with them!!!!!! The technician that visited my home to repair the washer siad its one of the worst washers on the market. Please do not buy this washer it will just cost you more than if you bought a good one in the first place ...
