When I moved into my house about 3 years ago, I inherited a manky old Hoover washing machine. It was truly horrible but it did it's job and I couldn't affford to buy a new one. I got about a years worth of use out of it and was pleased when it decided to stop working, even though it meant me forking out for a new machine!
Now, because my house is tiny I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a washer/dryer; I was fed up with clothes hanging ... ...against buying one mainly because of problems they had had with theirs. Anyway, my mind was made up and I'm very glad about it.
Now, about the machine:
Dimensions - Width: 595mm
Height: 850mm
Depth: 535mm
Capacity - For the washer: from 1 - 5.5kgs
For the dryer: from 1 - 2.5kgs
Spin speed - up to 1200rpm
Water supply - Hot and cold preferable
Price: I paid just under £300 2 years ago from Powerhouse. It wasn't on offer, so I think this is ...

Advantages: easy to use and practical Disadvantages: slow to dry
...my demands. I bought this Indesit washer dryer just under a year ago, but the life it's had with me is probably worth 3 years already!! I do one to two washes a day, be it a quick wash (I am one of the mums who steals my baby's blanket when he's not looking so I can give it a wash!!) or a boil.
The washer part of the appliance offers a wide choice, but I suppose you'd expect that from any washing mashine in 2004!
The spin speed goes up to 1200 ... ...novice, the higher the spin speed, the less water is left inside the fibres after a wash, meaning it is quicker at drying!! You can also adjust the spin speed down to 600 for delicates or even choose to let your clothes rest in the rincing water at the end of the wash, for anti-crease results on drying.
There is an energy efficient option too, where the washer will use less water to do its job. It's quite useful but I must admit that the washer ...

Advantages: does the job Disadvantages: likes to shout about it
Indesit WD12 - Washer dryer. "A programme for all seasons" as per the manual however to be honest I only ever use the one setting. Number 4. All year round. Functions
Normal wash
The machine has three fabric settings each with a variety of options which is dictated by how soiled your laundry is, from light to heavily, and this changes the length of the cycle and the different functions that is involved during, eg wash cycle at 40c, rinse cycles, ... ...conclusion, I have found this indesit to be a long serving slave to my clothes, never let me down, leaked or blown up. It is relatively quick and not too noisy. Fits nicely under my work top and has the two colour options most go for. It doesnt have any sort of annoying beep to indicate its finished just winks at you with a lovely red eye until you turn him off. ...

Advantages: Washer/dryer all in one Disadvantages: Keeps going wrong
I bought this Indesit washer -dryer at the end of 2003, due to our old washing machine finnally giving up. I wanted a washer/dryer in one as we only had space for one appliance in our kitchen. This machine is energy efficient A which was appealing. It also uses less water than some other models, whcih I thought would save us money on our water bill. This last feature has actually become a negative point for me, as I feel that because the machine ... ...at a time. This indesit w/d is no where near as good as a normal tumble dryer as the drying time is longer and the size of the drum is a tad smaller. My mother has a hotpoint washer dryer which works a lot better. If I'm ever staying with her, I often wash heavily soiled baby items there and I am always amazed at how clean her machine gets them. The dryer part on her machine is also superior. My machine cost me £319.00 and I know that her one was ...

Advantages: Fast Spin Speed and reasonably efficient Disadvantages: Dryer is not great.
...web is quite good. Type Indesit in Google and it is at the top of the list of results. I wish that was the case for other manufacturers. You need to know your machines name to find it on the site though and it is by no means obvious when you look at the machine. The name WD12 is on the front of the manual though. There is a parts phone line for ordering replacement bits, very handy if you want to check your repair man is not overcharging. I was pleasantly ... ...replacement parts to be sent at the cost of £5.44. The call out charge alone would probably have been £30 for a repair man. The next bit is for the handy man or anyone wanting to know if they are being conned by the repair man.
The job of replacing the handle was not very hard about 15 minutes work. The first step was to open the door. This is done by using a screw driver as a lever between the remaining plastic of the handle and the door frame. ...
