UPDATE 08/01/2006
Managed to get through to customer services and an engineer called today. Apparently something had gone through the pump, most likely an item left in a pocket or some such. Anyway, machine fine - no charge for call out and all right with the world once more.
Top tip - empty pockets before putting clothes in laundry basket - D'oh! more
HOW MUCH?
Well, I confess I only paid £19.95 delivery for mine as the nice people at Domestic & General bought it as a replacement for my old Servis M9090 machine (may he rest in washer heaven).
However, I think this model is about £300 in Comet at the moment.
WHAT DOES THAT GET YOU?
A fairly standard looking, 1000 rpm spin speed, washer dryer. With a couple of neat little features:
Its cold water fill only, some folk will tell you this is more economical, others disagree. However, I like it because it meant that I only had one filling hose to connect (and there's only one to leak!) and also because it doesn't take me any longer to fill my bath when I've got the washer on - a man of simple pleasures me!
The machine has three main control knobs on the front - one to select the wash programme, another to set the temperature and the third to set the drying time. Then you've got the power switch, a button that starts the programme and buttons to select a "heavy soil" bleach pre-wash, one to leave your clothes "iron-friendly" basically it just soaks the clothes at the end of the cycle, one to reduce the spin speed, and one to give your clothes an extra rinse.
WHY DO I LIKE IT?
Well my old machine was the most basic that you can imagine so the added functions on this really impressed me. There are quick wash cycles for stuff that you need in a hurry. The cycle specifically for trainers - not sure about this though - the amount of money I spend on footwear I'm not sure I want to throw them in the machine!
It's got a neat little bleach dispenser that adds the bleach gradually to the prewash ensuring you don't damage your clothes. I'm also impressed at the reduced amount of water this machine uses - yet the cleaning results are miles better than my old machine.
The instructions for connecting up were really clear and it was very easy to install and get it up and running - brownie points for me!
It's much quieter than the machine it replaces.
WHAT DON'T I LIKE?
Well not much really. It's still quite new so I'm still a bit confused by some of the functions - although the manual is pretty clear so I just keep that handy!
Having a separate control for temperature setting is a bit dangerous for me because my last machine didn't have it so I'm used to selecting the programme number I want and letting the machine get on with it. Bit risky if you've forgotten to change the temperature from 90 to 30 when washing Mrs P's favourite silk blouse though - nearly a very miserable Christmas there ;-)
It only comes in white - no problem for me but we've got friends who like the machine but won't get one as all their other white goods are silver (if you know what I mean?!)

Advantages: economical purchase with great performance, also some smart quick wash cycles. Disadvantages: slightly longer wash & dry cycles
...brand names & this little Indesit nearly half the price of a big brand name, has impressed me! It has coped with our family of five's filthy washing & desperately needed dry clothes admirably. For heavier stained clothes the wash cycles take slightly longer than the top of the range washing machines I'm used to, & the drying times are also a bit longer too. But that's all I can moan about! Oh, the knobs & the instructions did require some concentration ... ...the idea of having a seperate knob to set the temperature, & the numbered washes are self-explanatary printed on the face of the machine. The instruction booklet had loads of information in. It also lights up at different parts of the cycle to let you know what it's doing, wash, rinse, spin etc..which I find useful. There's some great little quick wash programmes called "time 4 u" & a sports wear programme, & training shoes wash. I love these!
It's ...

Advantages: Great when it's working Disadvantages: Doesn't work a lot, Poor cust service
...I'd previously owned an Indesit machine, the one down from this model, without the dryer. I was very happy and had never had a problem with it and so for me, to go for a upgraded model was an easy choice, especially as it was cheaper than a lot of the other washer dryers on the market.
It offers users several wash cycles, easy iron, less spin and extra rinse setting for washing and for drying it offers you a choice of minutes (40-150) to dry your ... ...up on the given day, Indesit had a record of a request but no completion of request, again we were offered another 3 week wait but my fiancee kicked up such a stink that they gave us an appointment within 5 days, specifying the times to a 3 hour slot.
When the engieer came he looked at the machine and told us it needed a new part but he didn't carry them on the van, therefore it would have to be ordered and this would take 5 days. I enquired as ...

Advantages: Its quiet. Easy to use. Versatile. Disadvantages: Takes a bit of getting used to functions. Door gets hot when drying.
...When I found the Indesit WIDL 102 I was pleased to see it in the same price range as my old machine. I paid £279.00 including £20.00 off in the January sales for my new washer dryer.
After my hubby had installed it there was definately a wow factor involved. It does so much more than my old Servis and has many more functions I am still trying them out a week later.
The first thing I noticed was - where's the water! It uses far less than any other ... ...on the drying cycle, the Indesit is virtually silent. If i shut the kitchen door I cannot hear it at all.
Another great benefit, when the washing cycle is complete the dryer comes on automatically. My old machine didn't do this so if I put on a wash before I went out to work, I came home to wet washing waiting for me to push in a half load button before setting the analogue dryer timer. The Indesit has a digital timer so i don't have to turn the ...

Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: None that I can think of
Very good machine, have had it for three months now and has worked perfectly.
Bought after a hand me down machine broke a month after we moved into our first house. Plumped for the washer/dryer as we don't have room for 2 machines and it was swiftly delivered by Comet.
Connected up easily (all machines only have a cold feed now if you haven't bought one in a while) and followed the instructions to get it going.
Instructions are very clear and ... ...need.
The only bad point i've found is that the start button is very close and very similar to the power button, so on a couple of occassions we've started the program again instead of turning the machine off.
All in all, it washes and dries so does exactly as it says on the tin. ...

Advantages: its white Disadvantages: too many to mention
What a complete waste of space, one of the biggest shopping errors that i have ever comitted. cheap and cheerful and rubbish. it is not easy to use, and takes some fine tuning and experimenting to use, user manual a waste of time. then when you do finally work out what buttons to use with what, it half heartedly washes your clothes, no sparkling whites from this machine. Then we move on to the dreaded dry function, which works wonderfully if you ... ...it a load and can take up to three attempts, not good for your purse or the enviroment. so overall it is rubbish, we are replacing very soon, this noisy non functional washer, and i will take it to the local tip as i wouldn't give it to my worse enemy. ...
