I recently became a homeowner so I have had to spend lots of money on furnishing my house. As I am a first time buyer I had to start from scratch.
My kitchen is a good size which is possibly the reason why we bought the house, although saying this we didnt want to buy both a washing machine AND a dryer. For this reason we decided to go for the washer/dryer combination.
Before we bought the appliance I heard many contrasting things about buying a washer/dryer. Some people said that they are worth the buy as it takes up less space in the house and works out cheaper as you are not buying two appliances. On the other hand I heard peope say that washer/dryer combinations can be more tempermental and if one of the options (washer or dryer) breaks down then you lose both of them.
Anyway, after all this we did decide to buy the appliance and went with this product as it seemed like the best value compared to anything else that was around at the time. This product was bought back at the end of January 05 and we paid £379.89 for it.
Before I give my opinion I will give you general product information:
-The spin speed is 1200RPM - The faster the spin speed, the more water is removed from the clothes.
-The wash performance is a grade A (A being the best).
-The energy efficiency grade is B, this helps to save electricity, thus saves you money.
There are 13 different programmes. There is also an option to delay the machine so washing can be done whilst you are out or asleep.
There are options such as hand wash, delicate wash, quick wash, a wool programme and a cool cycle. Other options include extra rinse, easy iron, economy wash, silk wash and many others.
The normal water consumption is around 88 litres although this is based on 60 degrees but I always tend to use 40 degrees.
The machine has a built in spin protection so that it constantly checks that it is spinning correctly.
You can set the drying option so that it dries for a certain amount of time or set it to a prograqmme such as Iron dry, Hanger dry or cupboard dry. There are also other things that the appliance can do but I dont want to have to quote from the manual!
I use the appliance about twice a week and it is extremely easy to use, this is probably because I use the same programme each time so all I have to do is turn it on and put the clothes and detergent in and press start!
After using it for about a month or so I found that whilst performing the washing cycle the maching started making a ticking noise. It appeared like the machine was stuck between the wash and rinse cycle, it took twice as long to do one cycle as it kept stopping and starting all the time.
Even though I had a bit of trouble with it once it has never done it again but I would reccommend that you take out insurance for the appliance to be safe. I brought the appliance from comet and the insurance cost £179 for 5 years. We were not going to get the insurance but I am glad that we did. Hopefully the machine wont do anything it shouldnt again but at least we have got it insured and they will replace it straight away.
I would recommend this product to potential buyers as it is very easy to use and the manual that comes with the product explains everything very well. As with all washing machines there is noise but I dont find that it is too loud.

Hi... Good review. We've had a washer/dryer now since 1986 (same one) but it's a Hoover 1100 spin. Had to repair it twice but I purchased a Haynes Manual (washing machines) which was very helpful. I've put new bushes in the motor (60p DIY) and cleaned a small valve that tends to get blocked, 3 or 4 times.. Now that I know of this product, when the hoover gives up the ghost, I will get one...
