Nobody likes smelly clothing, I find it offensive when strangers in the street pass me by emitting a stench that could be classed as a chemical weapon. I personally take pride int he fact that since I stopped smoking my clothes always smell and look clean. My Indesit WIXL 143s with a little help from my good lady wife are to thank for this, but rather than give you a run down of my wife, I will take the time to give you the lowdown of this washer/dryer combo, a snip in my opinion at £265 from Argos.
First of all, don't get ripped off if considering this beauty. The price varys wildly from retailer to retailer. Since my purchase I have seen it on sale for £375! It's good, but it isn't £375 worth of kitchenappliance. If you can buy it sub £300 I have no hesitation in making a hearty recommendation because it is an all singing, all dancing appliance that does exactly what it is suppose to do with minimal fuss, no breakdowns and best of all, without pumping out enough vibrations to knock pictures off the wall.
Every washer/dryer has pre-set programmes nowadays and the WIXL 143s is not different with 16 to cover nearly every possible washing scenario. These include a quick wash that takes a mere 30 minutes to complete making it really handy if you remember you need a shirt for work at 3 in the morning, wollen wash, cotton, easy iron, delicates, and a freshen up cycle. The freshen up cycle is by far the most useful of these programmes and will come as a revelation to those who wear city shirts that normally come out the washing machine looking like they will (and usually are) impossible to iron. Using this programme seems to wash the clothes more gently meaning that creases aren't washed in and after drying they are so much more easy to iron.
Being energy efficient class A also means you'll be doing your bit to cut down on your electricity usage which is very handy on the pocket, and in terms of washing and drying efficiency it is also class as A. So, technically it is top of the range.
The drum spins on the fastest wash at 1,400 rpm, and from experience with previous washing machines this tends to cause large amounts of noise and vibrations across worksurfaces and the floor. I am happy to confirm that this is not the case here and while there is noise, it's something you won't totally avoid it is very low and only audible if actually stood int he same room. Vibrations are non-existant.
We have had our Indesit now for just over 2 years. We didn't take out an extended warranty and haven't lived to regret it. There doesn't appear to be any build up of limescale, the waste pipe has never blocked and it works today as well as it did the day it was installed. It washes clothes brilliantly and if and when it does finally pack up I would have no hesitation in going straight out and buying another because washing with the WIXL 143s takes cleanliness to another level.
