Advantages: Soothing for baby Disadvantages: Not big enough for me
When i was pregnant with kieran, i was desparate for a nice comfy chair for my bundle of joy to sit in. I didn't want a normal bouncy chair, as i don't think they look very comfy.
But when i saw this chair, and all the added features, i jumped at it. (well not litrally, but you know what i mean).

This came in a rather large box!! Though it was flat packed, (to my pleasure, ... ...pregnant!!!)It was still rather large and heavy. So i had to make sure my partner was with me, so that he could carry it for me.
Don't even attempt this one, if you are going on a bus!!!!

This came in a rather large box!! Though it was flat packed, (to my pleasure, i just felt like putting a chair together at 8mths pregnant!!!)It was still rather large and heavy. So i had to make sure my partner was with me, so that he could carry it for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Getting it out of the box ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took it out, and looked at my partner!!! Was this really meant to be a chair??? It looked more like a load of scaffolding. There were loads of pieces, and the thought of putting it together was quite daunting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The instructions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The instructions were quite daunting too. When i saw the word screwdriver, i knew i was in for a time of it!! Thankfully it only took me five minutes to find the english bit. Which is a record for me!!
They weren't too bad. But i sat and did the check list to make sure i had all the bits. By then i was ready for a cuppa. (i would have had something stronger, had i not been pregnant)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Putting it together ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, the cuppa was gone. Time to get back to work. Put section A into section B, and join with a screw!! WHICH 1?? I had loads of screws!! Did they want me to get a ruler and mesure them? Of course my boyfriend was his usual helpful self, and sat on the sofa, and grunted 'Your Doing It Wrong' every 5 minutes. Not offering to help!!
I Managed to follow the instructions and after about an hour got it together. At which point, my partner pipes up ' would you like any help?'. Needless to say, i had a few words to say to him!!
It wasn't to hard to put together, and i'm sure most people would get it together quicker than me. Especially if they have some help!!
~~~~~~~~~~ End result ~~~~~~~~~~
Once i had given my partner the sharp end of my tongue, i stood back and admired my handy work. Not bad, if i do say so myself! But one thing that got me, was the fact that on the base of the seat it was wood! Ok, it was covered in material, but i couldn't help but think it might be a bit hard on my babys bum. But i guessed only time would tell.
~~~~~~~~ Features ~~~~~~~~
The features on this chair were one thing that attracted me to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reclining seat ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has a two position seat. You can lay in down or sit it up. When layed down, it isn't completely flat, so for a new born, i would suggest you use the next feature.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stop rocking bar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have underneith a movable bar. If you pull this out ir stops the chair rocking, but it also lays the seat right back. I used the chair like this up until around two months. But i still do this now when kieran sleeps in it, and he is now ten months old.
~~~~~~~~ Stoppers ~~~~~~~~
On the front and back of each of the rockers, are like little feet. These are to stop the child rocking the seat over. And it works! Kieran tends to lean forward alot in it now, and to star off with, i panicked, thinking it was going to topple. But it didn't. These little stoppers did their job.
~~~~~~~ Harness ~~~~~~~
This has a waist harness. It goes up between the legs, ang clips on either side. The bit that goes between the legs is well padded, and the straps are adjustable.
~~~~~~~~~ Vibration ~~~~~~~~~
This seat comes with a vibration pack attached. This is very handy for when baby won't seattle. It's described as being like a car ride. So if a car ride settles your little one. this might save you petrol. It only has the two settings, ON and OFF. So you can't control the amount of vibration the child gets. I have to admit, when kieran was first born, i was abit worried about using it, as the vibration is quite powerful. Luckly kieran was a very content baby, so i didn't start using it until he was around two months.
~~~~~~~ Toy bar ~~~~~~~
This has a nice toy bar attached. It has about three little toys hanging from it. One plays music. They are very colourful and attractive for the little ones. This was great for when he was tiny, as i cound lay him down, and he would just lay and look at them. But because it just pushes on, he now pulls it off, So i don't put it in very often now. But you can remove the toys, and attach them to the harness using the velcro. Or just take them off and let them play with them. Accordng to the knew argos book. You can now store the toy bar behind the seat. This is a new feature. So i am a bit jealous.
~~~~~~ SAFETY ~~~~~~
This is quite safe. All the hindges and clips are nicely covered, so you shouldn't be able to catch little fingers in it. It has (as i said) the harness, which holds the baby in securly. The clips are covered by the middle strap, so the little ones can't undo them. And also the stoppers. So the safety has been well considered.
~~~~~~~~ Cleaning ~~~~~~~~
This is very easy to clean. You can shove it in the washing machine on a 40- and also put it in the tumble dryer on a low. But i tend to wash it, and put it straight back on the frame to dry. This way it won't fry out of shape.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What does Kieran think? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He seems to be quite comfy in it. I never found a problem with the wood. It mustn't be as hard on the bum as it looks. He likes the toy bar, and the vibration always soothed him. So i think he would give it a big thumbs up!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What do i think as a mum? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love it. It does all the things i wanted it to. But i do think the seat could have done with some more padding on it. I like a baby to look really snug. It is very sturdy, and strong. It has showed no signs of breaking so thats a positive.
~~~~~~~~~ Age group ~~~~~~~~~
This is meant for children from Birth to 40lbs which is around three years. So it will last a long time. Once they reach three they will obviously be using it as a normal rocking chair. How many baby chairs do you know that will last that long?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Where can i get it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can get it in places like argos, and kiddicare. So it is quite widely available.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How much is it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kiddicare have got it for £37.99 Argos have got it for £39.99. This is the RRP for this chair. But i'm sure if you look round Ebay or Amazon, then you may find it cheaper.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recommendation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would recommend this to all mums with children from birth up. It is a great seat, and very colourful. It lasts well and is well worth the money.
