Advantages: Detects everything known to man - almost! Disadvantages: Expensive to buy and ongoing update costs
...Firstly, i do not condone the breaking of speed limits but along with my review of this product i will also explain my reason for purchasing it.
I purchased my Snooper from In Car Express who are a automotive specialist in Cambridge. They have an excellent website and their prices are very competitive. I can recommend them.
I actually purchased the S6-R Plus which is exactually the same model as the S6-R apart from the display. The Plus has a relaxing blue display compared to the original green one. This Snooper consits of three components; the main display; the laser/radar detector; the GPS antenna. It additionally has the added benefit that you are not required to conect it to a computer to update its database of fixed camera locations, as it has an inbuilt modem and can be connected directly to any telephone socket.

Advantages: Excellent detection range for both Radar and Laser based speed traps, full info display, voice alert, effective against Ku band Mini GATSO cameras Disadvantages: Will nor spot passive devices such as SPECS and TRUVELO, planned to make it along with other detectors of it's type illegal in 2006
....
Ku BAND-Effective against Mini Gatso cameras, very useful as this is a prime weapon the "Road Safety Partnerships" etc have against unfortunate motorists. About 400m warning again.
X-BAND-almost extinct in Europe and not used in the UK, this shows the North American roots of the Euro 550 BUT it is switched off at the UK suppliers (takes a complicated keying in sequence to reactivate-dont bother!).
LASER ALERT-gives an effective warning against the presence of Laser light, which if present is almost certainly indicating the presence of a Police speed trap etc. The only thing here is that if the Policeman has spotted you and has aimed his laser gun towards you and fired, the detector will go off but if you are speeding it's too late. It's usefulness is to alert you to diffused laser light which comes after another car has been zapped...

...that is needed for a prosecution and if you sped up between the two this will be spotted and a Notice of Intended Prosecution will swiftly be on its way to you. The Mobile Laser trap: a common site on roads, speed camera departments regularly deploy white and yellow vans and park them on top of bridges, sides of roads, anywhere a clear shot at approaching vehicles can be obtained. The camera inside the van tracks vehicles speed using laser and if a vehicle is travelling above the target speed then a photo is swiftly taken and processed.
These are the most common form of camera you will come across, though Speedkerb and Watchman technologies are currently going through the approval process and may soon be on our streets alongside the above.
Traditional radar detectors are becoming less and less useful in a motorists arsenal. The X...
