Office 2007 For Dummies - A Lifesaver!

Advantages: Very Well Written, Easy To Follow and Understand
Disadvantages: None!

...line of books and manuals. Office 2007 Is a great addition to the "For Dummies" books, with the release of Office 2007 from Microsoft many people, including myself, were mystified and dumbfounded as well as confused because of the many changes that they made to the product and the lack of documentation and support for the product. This book changes everything, it explains how to do anything you would ever need to do in Office 2007 from Word to Excel ...
...came time to upgrade to Office 2007 from Office XP and everything was different and was an entirely new world to me and my colleagues. We bought this book and quickly learned how to do everything wee knew how to do in the previous version of Office. The author truly understands and knows what he is talking about. He is very knowledgeable in the topic and communicates instruction and support very well. ...

The perfect companion to Final Fantasy X

Advantages: Contains everything you could possibly want to know in the Final Fantasy X universe.
Disadvantages: Cannot think of any.

...in-depth guide to all things Final Fantasy X. A very well presented, strongly bound guide that will be your companion throughout the game. At a first glance it gives detailed background information about the main characters (not to mention beautiful artwork too!), the controls for the game and detailed information about the sphere grid (your leveling up system in the game), the types of skills and magics you can learn during your journey (and what ...
...overdrive attacks. Overall, Final Fantasy X is a very enjoyable game even without finding out all it's secrets. However if you are a completionist, you'll want the whole story and I highly recommend this guide to get you through it. Looking up specific information could not be easier thanks to each page being colour coded depending on what section you are in. All the information is presented neatly, can be understood very well and each page is a ...

Windows Vista The Missing Manual

Advantages: Broad coverage, lots of useful tricks, great writing style
Disadvantages: Nothing

With Windows Vista now out in the wild, anyone who has just bought a new PC or has migrated over from Windows XP will be wondering what hit them. The first tranche of Vista books are now upon us, some aimed at the more technical end of the spectrum, others firmly targetted at people who just want to know how to use it. Windows Vista The Missing Manual could be just what they're looking for. Windows Vista The Missing Manual comes from the rapidly ...
...any sort of familiarity with Windows and needs to know about what's new in Vista but in laymans terms, this is an ideal book. Absolute beginners will also find this a useful introduction to Windows Vista but will probably want to jump over some chapters for now. In short, recommended. ...

The bible for usability (Don't Make Me Think! - Steve Krug)

Advantages: Full of seemingly obvious pointers
Disadvantages: Steve Krug isn't in my team

Don't Make Me Think! - Steve Krug is sub-titled "A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability", but it's much more than that. The principals can be applied to many other areas where you expect s 'user' to be able to use something. So, if you are interested in User Interfaces, whether website, computer program or even beyond that into the tactile world of devices, then this book is a must-read for you. If you actually design Websites and/or User Interfaces ...
...Steve Krug is a legend in operability and once you've gone through this book you will understand why. It's a practical, no nonsense guide to what you should and shouldn't do to make it easy for visitors to your site. Written in a very matter-of-fact manner, it is an easy and quick read. I found it hard to put down and learned a lot from the first read-thorough and more from using it as a reference book; dipping back in on occasion. It's separated ...

MySQL - A slightly non technical review of a technical manual

Advantages: Very comprehensive, covers everything you need to know
Disadvantages: Goes slightly off scope on occasions. Lots of theory

Introduction MySQL (pronounced sequel) is an open source relational database management system. Known for its speed and ease of use, MySQL is ideal for developing database applications and websites. MySQL is a popular choice with home users and small businesses as it is a cheaper option than Microsoft SQL Server which can cost thousands depending on the type of license you purchase. The chances are that all of our ciao reviews are stored in ...
...learn all the quirks that MySQL had. This book proved an invaluable asset in the early days as I aimed to make my mark on the site. MySQL can be downloaded free of charge from http://www.mysql.com , so all example scripts from the book can be practised at no extra cost. About the Author Paul DuBois is a writer, database administrator and leader in the open source community. In addition to MySQL, he is also author of several other software ...
