Great Beginners Guide
Advantages: Brilliant for beginners Disadvantages: Quickly out grown.
Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes is a great beginners training book.
It covers the very basic's of SQL that someone just starting out would need to know. It also does an excellent job of using analogies to communicate why syntax and statement layout is important.
It mainly teachs the reader Microsoft SQL, but also cover's common tasks in MySQL and Oracle.
The book starts out by explaining how and why we use SQL.
Then moves on to some of ... ...and INSERT statements.
It's a fast read, and builds upon the subjects already covered in the book.
The book moves on to more advanced topic's such as JOIN's and SOUNDEX statements.
The book over all is a brilliant guide to the basics of the SQL language, which will quickly be out grown as you develop your skills. I purchased the book just before I was about start a new job where I knew I was to be using the SQL langauge, I had finished it within ...

The bible for usability (Don't Make Me Think! - Steve Krug)
Advantages: Full of seemingly obvious pointers Disadvantages: Steve Krug isn't in my team
Don't Make Me Think! - Steve Krug is sub-titled "A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability", but it's much more than that. The principals can be applied to many other areas where you expect s 'user' to be able to use something. So, if you are interested in User Interfaces, whether website, computer program or even beyond that into the tactile world of devices, then this book is a must-read for you. If you actually design Websites and/or User Interfaces ... ...Steve Krug is a legend in operability and once you've gone through this book you will understand why. It's a practical, no nonsense guide to what you should and shouldn't do to make it easy for visitors to your site. Written in a very matter-of-fact manner, it is an easy and quick read. I found it hard to put down and learned a lot from the first read-thorough and more from using it as a reference book; dipping back in on occasion. It's separated ...

A Solid Reference Book For Security Professionals
Advantages: good reference, lots of useful tools, covers most major OSes and application / web hacking Disadvantages: security moves fast - out of date quickly, tries to cover too much and misses some things
Hacking Exposed is a very interesting and useful book for all security professionals, and those interested in network security. The book covers several operating systems and several facets of security, from general network and user security on Windows NT to Novell and Linux to telephony systems and web application hacking. The network security field progresses very quickly, and I believe the book is now up to it's fourth edition. The version I own ... ...now, but many of the attacks it mentions are still current, the tools still useful, and the principles still apply. There are sections on intrusion detection, logging, password security, penetration testing, denial of service, trojan hourses, application hijacking, and more. I have spent several years working with networks, and I found that a large amount of the book covered issues I was already aware of, however on occasions I was working with an ...

FFI - IX
Considering this review is for the tenth instalment, what happened to FF1-9, I hear you cry. Well, these games were all made for earlier consoles:
FF 1-3 for the NES
FF 4-6 for the SNES
FF7-9 for the PS1 (though can be played on PS2 and PS3)
FF7 was also available for the PC
These games were iconic. FF7 is where the series started getting major recognition, and if you ask an avid ...
