The Linux pocket guide is the second Linux book I brought, its essential a slim down command 'man' page with examples and helpful tips, its a great quick reference book to browse through some simple Linux commands, but don't expect it to provide more obscure vim options or complex shell scripts. Hacking Exposed by Stuart McClure Joel Scambray is primer or I would say is the bible on the topic of "Hacking". I came across this book during my MSc. It's a great book, which explain ABC of Hacking and also provide countermeasure to mitigate those vulnerabilities and mis-configuration erros.
