The numpties guide
Advantages: Cheap really cheap easy to read and follow Disadvantages: None it does what it says on the cover
...COVER
Anyone wanting to create a website should read this book, or buy my copy from me. It could almost be retitled Creating a website for numpties like Chris. It’s so easy to follow and, (big word coming up just thought I’d throw it in to look clever after calling myself a numptie) the taxonomy level increases as you, the reader and web site builder progresses through the book. It’s written by Rob Young who has an easy flow of narrative. You can ... ...then go back again to re-read and understand as he guides you through the simple (!!!) process of building a website. He starts with the foundations as any good builder does then lays the bricks and mortar before decorating the finished product.
So the first chapter may seem simple to us Ciaoers as it’s all about that scary place the World Wide Web. But then he quickly moves on to explain the bones of any website such as hypertext links and url’s ...

Great Book
Advantages: Covers site design Disadvantages: Would like more on Javascript and DHTML
This book is absolutely excellent. It is both helpful for beginners and those with some knowledge alike. It not only covers the basics of actual page coding but also more advanced techniques. All the chapters are well thought out with good clear illustrations and helpful examples. You don't have to read the book from cover to cover to get some benefit from it. I have a fairly good knowledge of HTML and have found the book great for polishing up on ...

Read it and weep
Advantages: Your web site design will improve Disadvantages: The extent of your shortcomings will be depressing
It's not often that I read a textbook cover to cover but I did with this one. This is essential reading for anybody involved in website design. This author has a very fluid and readable writing style and what he says also makes sense, which is more crucial to a book of this type. Every aspect of site design is examined in detail with numerous examples being given to support the statements being made by showing right and, more often, wrong ways to ...

United Colours of the Internet

...which is called the Browser-Safe Color Palette (Sometimes known as the Web Safe Palette), which consists of 216 colours which can be represented on the 2 most common computers, PC and Macintosh. Using any other colours outside of this 216 palette will lead to your site colours shifting to its nearest interpretation depending on the browser and operating system.
The bulk of this book takes the 216 colours of the Browser-Safe Color Palette and turns ... ...one of many in the Color Harmony range of books; others include interior design, jewels, pastel etc
This title is a bit hard to find in the UK considering it’s an American publication. A quick search on www.Amazon.co.uk and www.bol.com produce no matches. I personally bought my copy from PC Bookshops (www.pcbooks.co.uk) for £22.50 but I have seen this book many times at design bookshops. To find out more about this book, visit the Rockport ...
