...We'd wanted a DVD player for some time and looked closely and prices and specifications. The Proline DVD 1000 from Comet stood out on price and it had all the feature that we wanted so we brought it. The first thing that struck me was how attractive it was a very sleek metalic gold finish makes it look like it cost the earth. I was surprised at how much bigger it appeared next to a video player and we needed to reorganise our home entertainment shelves to accommodate it, but it has been well worth it. The picture and sound quality is outstanding and let me tell you I'm hard to please ! Everyone who comes into the house admires it and I cant belive it cost so little to be the envy of all my friends.... Read review

...I recently bought the Sharp XL-1000 of off Ebay and am really impressed with it! The sound quality is fantastic and the speakers pump out the sound loud and with almost No distortion. The Hi-fi even looks fantastic, wiht the sleek look and silver finish. The see through speakers look good with the sound coming out crisp and clean even at a loud volume. This particular model has a remote, according to the manual, but as I bought it off Ebay it never came with one. But this doesn't stop it from performing well, there are play, skip, function, volume and preset radio buttons located on the front, next to the display that has adjusted brightness (with remote). The speakers on this model are 10 watts RMS. 1 bit D-A Converter. The only problem is that it is quite bulky and heavy.... Read review

...I have owned one of these Phillips DAB1000 portable radios for a year now. I paid £35 on eBay, but they can go for as much as £70 on the high street. Supplied with the radio: Headphones, two rechargeable batteries, charger and a protective pouch. The radio to me feels sturdy and tough, i use mine on a daily bases when I'm on my tractor/mower in all weather conditions (Damp, Dust, Cold conditions) and it hasn't failed me yet. I only have two Qualms with it. First one is the battery life' it says on the manufactures spec it has a 10 hour life...... More like 5! So i would recommend you carry a spare set of batteries with you. Second is the location of the headphone socket which is on the side of the radio, which makes it hard to get it into it's pouch. It would have been better on the top if you ask me? The sound of the of the DAB radio... Read review
