tattoo - it's the one thing that will allow her to reclaim her body, renew her self-confidence. And when her local tattoo artist shows her a secret book of his own designs, she finds one of them irresistible. Soon her back is adorned with a pair of mysterious eyes, framed by black wings. Leslie feels good and that nothing bad can touch her but what she doesn't know is that her tattoo binds her to the faery whose symbol she chose - Irial, the dangerous king of the Dark Court. A cool, urban 21st century faery tale following 'Wicked Lovely'.
Advantages: Likeable characters, funny, easy to read! Disadvantages: Can't put it down!
I have just finished reading this book, and as always thought I'd write a quick review on it!
Persuading Annie is one of 5 well-known books by Melissa Nathan, a young writer, who sadly died in April 2006 of cancer at the age of 37. Her previous books have been: Pride, Prejudice and Jasmine fields; The Nanny; The Waitress; The Learning Curve. I have read all bar the first one, which is on my list of to-reads! I first heard of Melissa Nathan in a magazine I was reading, her book The Nanny was on the top 10 list, and the blurb sounded good, and so I went off out and bought it. I was encaptured by the story, and ever since, whenever I have seen a book by Nathan, I have bought it straight away!!
Persuading Annie is the newest of all her books (and quite possibly her last, unless there are more which have already been written awaiting ...

Advantages: Interesting to watch, loads of cool tattoos to look at Disadvantages: Often I find myself wanting a tattoo done by Chris Garver but unfortunately I don't live in Americ
Miami Ink, if you haven't heard about it already, is a TV show about a tattoo parlour in Miami (if you hadn't already guessed!).
The series began in July 2005, introducing four eager tattooists, Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass, as well as Ami's apprentice, Yoji Harada. Throughout the episodes new tattooists enter and go, the most famous probably being Kat Von D who turned the studio around with her beautiful portrait tattoos.
Each show lasts about an hour long, and during that time we see a variety of clients enter the studio to get their tattoos.
The guys who run/work in the studio are all fairly young, heavily tattooed and have been through different walks of life. Most of them have spent their lives tattooing, so working in the shop you can tell means a lot to them. Each artist has a different personality ...
Advantages: Original. Excellent debut from Etheridge. Talented vocal and instrumental work. Disadvantages: The Gawd-awful liner notes! AAH!
I can remember very little from my childhood - especially ages eight through ten. There is no good reason for this, as I wasn't abused, run over by speeding buses, or any other such rot. Perhaps I simply just didn't have much of a brain - if that's the case, then not much has changed since then.
What I DO remember very clearly is the music I listened to in the late eighties. Back in those days I was seven, eight years old, listening to popular acts such as Stevie Nicks, Phil Collins, The Eagles, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Fleetwood Mac. Honestly, most music from the eighties that actually became popular here in America just plain sucked - if you don't believe me, put in a Tiffany or Debbie Gibson record.
Anyway, when I was seven, back in 1988, my mother turned on the radio and introduced me to Melissa ...
