Trying to squeeze your five portions or fruit and vegetables into your day can seem absolutely impossible, and a bit of a chore. I have been trying to eat and drink a little healthier lately, and realised that I could easily get one of those portions daily by drinking a glass of orange juice with my breakfast. I’ve been a fan of the Innocent brand since trying their smoothies and veg pots, so when I came across their fresh fruit juices I just had to try them! Ever since that first delicious sip of their smooth orange juice, I knew I would have absolutely no problem getting my five a day underway!

Innocent are a company that believe in producing and selling only natural, delicious, ‘as close to nature as possible’ products that use no artificial anything. You won’t find any additives, flavourings, preservatives or colourings in their products – just fresh fruit and vegetables that have been lovingly turned into wonderfully yummy goodies. Innocent sell a range of smoothies, juices, veg pots and fruit tubes – all of which are simply full of natural goodness. If you’re looking for something good to eat or drink that will make your insides happy and help you on your way to your five a day – Innocent are there to help!
This delicious ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is definitely becoming easier to find, as it is now stocked in all the large supermarkets. You can purchase this delicious juice from Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado. The carafes of juice can be found in the chiller section of the supermarkets along with all the other fresh fruit juices available for purchase.
Innocent produce two different types of orange juice, both of which contain the same 100% natural, freshly squeezed orange juice, but with a slight difference. The first type of orange juice Innocent sell is ‘with bits’. This orange juice contains juicy bits of orange flesh for those that love a bit of texture to their morning glass of the sunny stuff. The other type of ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is a smooth version, made to quench the fruity thirst of those of us who absolutely despise having ‘bits’ in our orange juice. I cannot even bring myself to drink any sort of juice that has ‘bits’ so I’m absolutely over the moon that Innocent produce a smooth juice to fulfil my needs.
When it comes to having all bases covered, Innocent are right there with their juices on the topic of size too! The ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ comes in three different sizes, a family size 1.35litre jumbo bottle, a 900ml size bottle and a single serving 330ml bottle. The three different sizes allow you to pick and choose which product is best for your own needs. I personally have been purchasing the 900ml bottle as there is only me in my household that drinks orange juice daily. The 900ml bottle will give you 6 servings of 150ml. The family size 1.35ltr bottle will give you 9 servings of 150ml.
In comparison to some of the other orange juices readily available in supermarkets, this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ can seem a little on the expensive size.
The large family size 1.35ltr bottle will cost you around the £2.68 mark, meaning a 150ml serving will cost around 30p. The 900ml bottle is priced at £1.99, making a 150ml serving cost around 33p. The smaller, single serving 330ml bottle is priced at around £1.10. Although the juice is quite a bit pricier than other juices, I imagine this is because of the freshness and quality of the product itself. I would rather pay the extra to get a fresh, natural, excellent quality juice than pay less for an artificial, from concentrate, factory made orange juice. It is worth keeping an eye out for these juices being on multibuy offers, as they usually are – two of the family size bottles can be picked up for £4.50 and two of the 900ml bottles can be purchased for £3 when on offer in supermarkets. It is worth stocking up, if you can, when the offers are running, as this juice becomes wildly popular when it is being sold for cheaper than usual!
The packaging for this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is pretty unique and definitely eye-catching, which makes it easy to find amongst all the other orange juices which are mainly packaged in cardboard cartons or regular shaped bottles. Not only is their packaging good looking, but each of their bottles are made from 25% recycled plastic and is also recyclable once you have finished slurping the contents. Innocent sell their orange juice in a plastic bottle-like container which they call a ‘carafe’. Each carafe is a rounded oblong shape at the bottom which tapers up into a thinner ‘neck’. The carafes are made from a clear plastic so you can see the sunny orange product inside and have a different coloured cap and label on each type of juice so you can distinguish clearly between the two. The ‘smooth’ juice has a blue cap with a blue colour scheme to the labels and the ‘with bits’ juice has a green cap and colour scheme to its labels. The front of the carafe label shows the Innocent logo with a picture of an orange and states the type of juice it is. The back and sides of the label give information about Innocent, the ingredients in the product, the nutritional information and a picture of a type of animal (my last carafe had a picture of a bear) with a humorous caption.
As soon as you lay eyes on this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ on the supermarket shelves you can see the wonderfully golden orange colour enticing you from within. On first look I just though that this was the colour of the bottle, but the bottles are made from a clear plastic to showcase the wonderfully bright juice within. Once you pour yourself a glass of this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ you will be surprised to see that the juice stays true to form & is as golden and sunny in the glass as it is inside the container. It’s refreshing to find a product that looks appetising without any artificial help and looks as good as it tastes!
The smell of this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is apparent as soon as the lid is unscrewed. This juice has a fresh, distinct orange scent without any of the added sickly sweetness that comes with cheaper or from concentrate juices.
I do find with some of the cheaper or less ‘natural’ juices that they have an artificial scent about them, overpoweringly sweet and chemically. This ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ avoids all of that, being fresh and inviting to the nose and having a ‘real’ orange scent – a little sweet, a little tart, a lot refreshing!
When it comes to taste, this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ outshines all the rest. I have tried many different types and brands of orange juice, from the painfully expensive to the ridiculously cheap, and this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is the best. If you’re looking for an orange juice that is as close to squeezing and crushing oranges to obtain the juice with your own bare hands – this is it! Innocent have done all the hard work for you so that you can enjoy the simple, fresh, deliciously natural taste of their orange juice without any additives, preservatives, colourings or other meddling things. The juice has a fresh orange taste that is sweet and tart, exactly like it is from a fresh orange. If you haven’t tasted the real juice from an orange before you may be surprised that is isn’t as sweet as you have been used to from your other shop bought orange juice. Cheaper and ‘from concentrate’ juices use sugar and sweeteners to improve the flavour of their juice, but Innocent do not. Innocent use 100% fresh orange juice in their juice products, so you can be sure that you are tasting the real deal. This ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is natural tasting with a distinct orange flavour which is both sweet and tart, a smooth texture in the mouth and a refreshing experience for your taste buds!
In my opinion, Innocent juice is the best you can buy. Yes this product is expensive compared to some of the other orange juices you can buy from the same supermarkets, but I’d rather pay the extra to know that my juice has not been altered in any way. By buying this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ you can be sure that the juice you are drinking is 100% natural with no additives, colourings or extra nasties, and has never been re-made from concentrate. This juice is the freshest, smoothest, most delicious orange juice I have ever had the pleasure of drinking and I would certainly recommend it to everyone. I’ve gone through a good half a dozen bottles of this orange juice in the past couple of months and have never had any problems with it. The juice may taste every so slightly different from bottle to bottle but this is only to be expected as the oranges change with the seasons. I can imagine some people may not like the juice as they are used to drinking the artificially sweetened, made from concentrate juice that is much cheaper to purchase in the supermarkets, but this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ is the real deal – 100% orange with no alterations. I’ve tried plenty of different orange juices in the past, even having the terrible, sugary sweet, made from concentrate juice from time to time, and tasting this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’ for the first time was a real surprise to find that oranges do not taste so sugary!
If you want to taste the most natural, freshest, close to nature, most delicious orange juice that you can buy without squeezing it yourself by hand, then get out there and buy this ‘Innocent Orange Juice’. I honestly cannot recommend this product enough!
