Dazzle - Making memorys last longer
Review of Dazzle DVD Recorder Video input adapter by
PhilipArmstrong
Advantages: Helps free up space on Camcorder Tapes
Disadvantages: Tricky to install
The Dazzle Video input adapter was a Handy Tool indeed. Previous to having this adapter i could only play movies from my camcorder from the T.V which was a complicated business but with it i can now make DVD's of all my favourite memorys.
The Dazzle Video input adapter was tricky to use. Many leads wires and much installation was needed to install the software and device. The actually interface of the software was up to date and modern and pleasing ...

It took a long time to WinTV
Review of Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1100 by
rbell5ciao
Advantages: Inexpensive and useful
Disadvantages: Does not install on all motherboards tried
I 1st installed this on a Vista machine with an Asus K8V SE motherboard The card was seemingly installed OK but after scan I could not receive any freeview channels,
only analogue so I rang the help desk because the analogue system has no future.
They said they have information that the card, for some inexplicable reason, does not work with some motherboards,
something to do with power supply available they thought.
So I tried ... ...PC with a Winfast motherboard and XP professional. Tried every slot on that - still no joy.
After several phone calls to this excellent help line and waiting for their USA division to update the drivers they offered to replace the card just to see if it was faulty.
This they did, although it did take a few weeks because apparently the person dealing with returns was on holiday?
On receipt of replacement - again no joy so I abandoned the whole ...

Good Hardware, Bad Software
Review of Freecom DVB-T USB stick DVB terrestrial receiver / radio input adapter by
ugm6hr
Advantages: Cheap, Works
Disadvantages: Poor software
...the story is different for Linux users (specifically Ubuntu 7.10). While Freecom does not officially support Linux, Realtek (who make the DVB chipset) have released a driver that has been modified for easy installation by the Ubuntu community (just search the forum). It works flawlessly with Kaffeine (free media player). ...

Nice card shame about the software
Review of Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1300 by
jjbreen
Advantages: Hybrid tuners, onboard hardwarde mpeg encoder
Disadvantages: Awful Hauppauge software
An excellent card let down by clunky outdated software. Hardware-wise it's hard to beat as it has both and analog and digital terrestrial tuners as well as a hardware mpeg encoder on the analog side to aid in the transfer of home movies from Tape to DVD. Hauppauge's problem is that it hasn't updated the WinTV200 software since God was a boy and it is a complete pain to use. I'd highly recommend this card but if you are considering it, allow yourself ...

Review of TerraTec Phono PreAmp Studio USB by
djpleat
Advantages: converting vinyl format to wav or mp3
Disadvantages: none that i can think of
i am not much of a techno head, so please bear with me in my summary.if you are like me and have collected records over the years this piece if gadgetry is a must for various reasons.i have a lot of records and a lot of the recordings are pretty much unavailable, also i don't see the point in spending out for music that which i already have and most importantly i wanna have something which i can have as a backup - ie imagine if ur most precious and ... ...gets warped and becomes unplayable - are we talking major depression ?
As for the gadget itself - there is not enough praise for it, very easy set up,adjustable db- there are three settings, simply play the record with each setting and find the one that delivers a better sound - very simple, the instructions and software are very easy to follow, once the recording is complete you can use the software to erase any hisses and clicks and any minor ...
