Belkin DVD Creator Video input adapter review
Advantages: Works, lifetime waranty, easy to use(its just plug and play) Disadvantages: Nothing special about it, equivalent prducts can be found everywhere
What can I say about it except it does the job and does it well. Its fast (as the name suggests) and is compatible with the industry standards (up to 720x480pixels and 30fps) I hear you cry what makes this better than any other analogue video to pc cable and the answer is not very much. You plug it, in use the included compatible software and copy your source to pc. It works with just about any standard analogue source. Its a pretty standard piece ... ...the slosh of the general market, its as good as any and has a lifetime waranty but I'm sure you can find the equivalent of this product for less. I only recomend it for the life time waranty, not that much can go wrong on a cable and a bit of software. ...

Not the best - get something more modern
Advantages: Pretty small and easy to connect to your PC, can work (sometimes) with Movie Maker v 1 Disadvantages: Doesn't work with Movie Maker v 2, never fully worked with XP, output files can be massive
...internet for 'Windows XP install Belkin Videobuss II' or something similar. As it happens, its not too hard to install with the instructions, although im very aware of the fact that part of it involves you saying 'yes, continue anyway' when Windows shows a warning message about detecting that the device hasn't gone through or passed Windows Logo Testing, which does make me a little uncomfortable, especially considering some of the problems I endured ... ...(which I'll mention).
Now to start with, after I'd installed it, I was able to use not only the supplied program to capture video & audio (called MGIs Videowave II) but other programs like Windows built in Movie Maker program, which I preferred as I could select it to capture video to a smaller file size (ok the quality isn't as good but the file sizes can be much smaller). However, I did end up having some problems with this device and after a ...

StarTech S-VIDEO to USB 2.0 capture cable
Advantages: Small, cheap, does what it says on the box Disadvantages: none
I had to transfer some old VHS into DVD for convenience so I did browse the internet looking for something really good yet easy to use and most important not expensive. I found a lot of very good reviews about this product, so I decided to give it a go and bought one, well I have to say that it works beautifully, the manual is very clear, the installation was a breeze, the software bundled is very useful and whilst I'm writing the device is currently ... ...The video output is surprisingly good in particular using the composite input, I checked with "graphedit" the directshow codecs used and they are the one provided by the bundled software, however because the device is a WDM compliant device you can use any capture software that will convert to MPEG2 with better codecs, again this is just a personal choice. ...

Massive functionallity, quite inexpensive
Advantages: Absolutely tiny (memory stick size) full DVB functionallity, desktop and laptop compatibility Disadvantages: Really needs a 'proper' ariel
...title – I’ve got an AverMedia Volar HX, which is ‘digital only’, but will supposedly support HD broadcasts if anyone decides to offer them on terrestrial DVB in the United Kingdom.
Parking analogue capability to one side, bith units are essentially the same.
Given that the lights are already going out on analogue terrestrial broadcasting (in the Scottish Borders the service was turned off in 2008) that isn’t going to be a tremendous issue in a ... ...‘numbers’ are completely wrong – AverMedia gets this bit right!
After the initial setup, in use it’s simplicity itself to use.
Plug in the stick, pres the red button on the remote and up pops a window showing the last tuned station.
Press another button, and you get a full screen TV.
You get all the DVB channels, including telly and radio – sound quality is about as good as you’d get on a streaming service such as iPlayer however this leads us ...

HDTV on your computer
Advantages: Price, Features, HDTV Disadvantages: Supplied Aerial rarely works
The AUGUST USB Freeview TV Receiver is a device that plugs into a USB port on your computer and turns it into a Freeview HDTV. It is a small USB stick, and comes with it's own aerial, as well as an adapter to plug into a normal aerial, and it's own media playing software, plus a remote control. They are usually available for around £20.
I have a static touring caravan on a site on the Norfolk Coast which I use for weekends away during the summer, ... ...Whilst I don't tend to watch TV much whilst away, I do like to have one, and therefore have for many years had an old 14in TV which I keep in the caravan. The problem is though it's quite bulky and takes up floor space (it's too big to go in cupboards, and can't live outside since I only have a canopy) and is an extra thing that gets in the way when setting up and packing away, plus there is the looming switch over to digital. Both of these got me ...
