AST brand name has been known as a leading manufacturer of technology products for consumers and businesses throughout the world. The company continues to evolve to keep pace with the rapidly changing computer industry offering numerous processor upgrades that bring more processing power to all your applications.
Advantages: Good quality and good value for money- easily overclocked Disadvantages: starts off slow and you have to overclock :D
...This is all a bit technical but I felt this was what was missing from all the ciao ops on the duron
The Duron 800 was announced and released in parallel with the Athlon 1.2 GHz processor. A new high-end processor and a new low-end processor to further compete and shove the competition out the way. While an 800 MHz CPU may seem like old news, at such a low cost to the mass market, 800 MHz sounds like gold. For budget-PC buyers, the higher the clockspeed, the better the machine: whether that is true or not.
For the hardcore buyer, the higher clockspeed usually just means you have a better chance of overclocking successfully. However, we are not the majority of the market share, so we think may not matter as much as we’d like it to.
Either way, the Duron 800 helps keep AMD on top of Intel in every category of processor for the highest...

Advantages: good overclocker Disadvantages: not as good as duron
...The Celeron has been around for a while now and, due to the fact that it is a cut-down version of the Pentium 3 that runs at a slower bus speed (66MHz for the Celeron compared to 100 MHz for the P3), with a little TLC and a lot of cooling, it can often be made to run at speeds far greater than the advertised values. In this respect, it is not as good as AMD's Duron processor (see my review of that for details), but for owners of BX boards, this can be a cheap upgrade (see your motherboard manufacturer's website for details of whether it will run Celerons), as all that is required is the CPU and a *decent* heatsink & fan, rather than a new processor and motherboard.
For example, one of my machines currently has a celeron 600 (this runs a multiplier of 9 at the bus speed of 66MHz) running at 900 MHz (9 * 100MHz). This is a huge...

A top chip! Review ofIntel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processorby
merkus77
Advantages: fast, new Disadvantages: expensive
...I upgraded from an Intel Pentium II 450 mhz to the new Intel Pentium III 700 mhz mainly because of the upgrade offer at a low cost. I found that immediately there was a noticeable difference and just the way in which my computer carried out every day tasks like opening programs and the likes seemed to fly through as if my old chip was carrying 4 suitcases with it on it's chores! I find no problems at all with it and I would seriously recommend it to anyone after a high speed processor with lightning speed and good capabilities....

This is brilliant processor for its small price. In fact i like it so much, im writing this review using it right now.
It is really easily over clocked using the right mother board. Personally, i have overclocked to 2.5Ghz using a cheap Gigabyte... more
It took a while for Intel to wake up and smell the prices of AMD shares recently (AMD being Intel's main competitor). After years of AMD taking bite after bite out of Intel's market share with innovative, efficient, fast and affordable processors, Intel... more
