Advantages: fast, cheap alternative, lasting. Disadvantages: Athlong are out, less Cache.
...I own a Celeron 400mhz. I have overclocked it to 450mhz throught the bios and could get it too 500mhz through the bios. I have to say the Celeron is a excellent cheap alternative to a Pentium 2 of the same range. Now Athlons and Pentium 3 high class chips are out, but so what. My celeron 400 does the job for anything an athlon 1000mhz does for example, just a little slower. new celerons are coming out at speeds of around 700mhz so i am interested in buying one of those. I think the Celeron is best for your money. It has fast speeds, doesnt get too hot and has a great performance. I have had my CPU for over a year now and it is still running overclocked strong. I recommend the celeron's immensly....

So poor!!! Review ofIntelCeleron 1 GHz processorby

Advantages: Slower than Pentium Disadvantages: Cheaper
...The Celeronprocessor's done with Time computers are rubbish, and i recommend that you always go with the Pentium III Chip- you get better value for money, and faster running at the same speed. For exmaple, the Celeron at 1000 Mhz runs slower than the Pentium III at 800 MHz, because it is not as well designed. You think you are getting a good deal, but you are actually getting a slower computer. I know always make sure that i get Pentium chips- and often you can only tell which chip you have in the small print- make sure it is Pentium. It is more reliable, and easier to update without changing other things on the Mother Board- get Pentium Chips they are much better!!!...

Advantages: good overclocker Disadvantages: not as good as duron
...The Celeron has been around for a while now and, due to the fact that it is a cut-down version of the Pentium 3 that runs at a slower bus speed (66MHz for the Celeron compared to 100 MHz for the P3), with a little TLC and a lot of cooling, it can often be made to run at speeds far greater than the advertised values. In this respect, it is not as good as AMD's Duron processor (see my review of that for details), but for owners of BX boards, this can be a cheap upgrade (see your motherboard manufacturer's website for details of whether it will run Celerons), as all that is required is the CPU and a *decent* heatsink & fan, rather than a new processor and motherboard.
For example, one of my machines currently has a celeron 600 (this runs a multiplier of 9 at the bus speed of 66MHz) running at 900 MHz (9 * 100MHz). This is a huge...
