Intel Celeron 700 MHz processor

Advantages: fast, cheap alternative, lasting.
Disadvantages: Athlong are out, less Cache.

...I own a Celeron 400mhz. I have overclocked it to 450mhz throught the bios and could get it too 500mhz through the bios. I have to say the Celeron is a excellent cheap alternative to a Pentium 2 of the same range. Now Athlons and Pentium 3 high class chips are out, but so what. My celeron 400 does the job for anything an athlon 1000mhz does for example, just a little slower. new celerons are coming out at speeds of around 700mhz so i am interested in buying one of those. I think the Celeron is best for your money. It has fast speeds, doesnt get too hot and has a great performance. I have had my CPU for over a year now and it is still running overclocked strong. ...A 9.0x multiplier is about as far as you can go with a Celeron to acheive the much respected 100Mhz FSB and therefore acheive 900Mhz in the case of the Celeron 2 600e. DO NOT BUY A CELERON 2 633, 667 OR 700 IF YOU WANT TO OVERCLOCK THEM 100MHZ FSB. Their multipliers are too high unless you are going to liquid cool them!!! It has to be said that the 0.18 micron die etch has been a god send for overclocking but when the multiplier starts to get silly, atainable overclocking on a locked bus is crazy, hence my suggested max of a Celeron 600e if you're thinking of clocking your new Celeron.... ...this is great value for money. The normal intels cost a lot more and are not worth the extra cash. These are reliable, fast and cheap. I've had no problems with crashes....I had a normal intel before and paid way too much for it. I was always frightened of celerons because originally they were the failed chips, but now have been turned into the fastest selling chip and great value for money. They are slightly slower than the real intels but for a bit more you can get a higher MHZ processor that will outperform the equivilent MHz pentium. Go out and buy one, you will not regret it and will have many error free hours playing the latest games or programs with ease.... Read review
