Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 running at 3Ghz and with 6mb l2 cache is one one the most sold processors in recent months. In fact it is so good and loved by gamers all round the world that in some places it went out of stock for days and weeks.
It has 45nm architecture which ensures that it runs cool and can be overclocked up to 3.5 Ghz with no extra cooling solutions. Smaller architecture also means better data communication. I personally own one of these processors and i am a heavy multi tasker and i could assure you that it never lags behind. In the background i run video converter while playing games and even then it doesn't lag at all. I believe now you understand the power of this mighty beast.
To the best of my knowledge E8400 comes very close and sometimes even beats its counterpart (quad core of same speed). This wolfdale is definitely one of the best things intel made in recent years
