The CORE i7 is a processor by Intel. It has a frequency of 2.66GHz but can be massively overclocked. It is a quad-core, but due to hyper-threading, it shows up as eight-cores from system diagnostics. Speed The i7 is extraordinarily fast, and it can be made even faster with some modifications in the overclocking department. From the defaulted settings that it comes shipped on, benchmarks show that it beats it’s AMD Competitor, the Phenom II X4, by a fair amount. However, only the most demanding of todays applications, that use all of the cores that are made available to them could even begin to ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick, core-tastic, hyperthread, makes multi-tasking a breeze

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

Core i7 is the newest Quad core CPU from intel, its top end and as a result expsenive yet efficient. I opted for the 920 at a semi-reasonable £240, compared to the quicker, yet more pricey 940 or Extreme edition (the Extreme tops out at nearly £1,000 - just for the CPU!?!). With more cores and too many features to list (google it) the Core i7 is intel's finest core yet. With rave reviews and recommendations, I chose the Core i7 over my previously favoured manufacturer (AMD). As anyone who knows anything about customer loyalty will know, it takes alot to steal loyal customers and AMD have ... more

The Intel core i7 is the new processor range from Intel. The core i7 is the fastest processor yet to be unleashed into the marked. It comes in three different models at the moment however there are plans to release another 3 more. At the moment of when this review was written there are only three types; 920 (2.66 GHz), 240 (2.93 GHz) and the 940 Extreme Processor (3.2 GHz). each of the processors have 8MB of cache which means you will be able to run your PC faster as it will use large memory to process the information. the i7 is also a quad core CPU which means it will multi-task extremely ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheapest of the i7 series, Excellent overclockability, Fantastic performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is not ideal for people after a less expensive computer. Requires a X58 motherboard.

This product is my personal choice out of all of Intel's i7 range. Why you ask? Because it is cheap and features all of the functionality of its older brothers. These chips share exactly the same level 2 and level 3 cache, and a majority of their multipliers are all present, so off the mark this processor isn't that far behind its big brothers at all! The only huge gap here is the price. I would say if you are into overclocking then this is the chip for you since this can be pushed to 3GHz easily, and even 4GHz is possible with the correct cooling and voltages. At 4GHz this processor can ... more

    Advantages Advantages Fast, Very overclockable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the cheapest upgrade, Requires DD3 memory, X58 i1333 motherboard

This thing takes anything you can throw at it and just powers through it. Convert 2hrs of a DVD iso to H.264 in 30 mins. great over clocking capabilities. The boxed CPU comes with a stock intel cooler that it comes with is great at cooling the CPU, you may want to invest in a bigger fan if pushing the clock speed which some have got up to an incredible 4.0Ghz from 2.6Ghz, I have tried to get to this figure but my system became unstable, although i did not try tweaking many settings. Running this CPU with 12Gb of DDR3 on windows 7 Build 7100, everything installed and booted up first time. You ... more
