Advantages: Temperature sensors, free software Disadvantages: None
...I have a chaintech motherboard in my P3 system and it hs lots of good points to it: -
Supports IntelPentium II and Pentium III processors up to 733MHz
Celeron 466MHzSystem clock 66/100/133MHz
Slot 1 with convenient retention mechanism
High efficiency switching power module
There are temperature sensors on the board to keep you updated all the time about temps and fan speeds. It will take up to 768 MB of ram at speeds of 66/100/133MHz ram depending on the processors bus speed. It comes with a cd full of drivers and some free software like antivirus which is very helpfull....

Advantages: reasonable speed Disadvantages: outclassed by cheaper athlon
...Intel amazes me - years after everyone ridiculed the name "pentium" they are still at it with their latest revision, the PIII. Like all intel chips, it is completely compatible with all existin dos, win, linux etc, so all your old programs will still run. HOWEVER, this is likely to be the last chip that is this completely backwards compatible. THe next chip will have a 64bit layout, and it is likely that 32-bit [ie pentium] will only be emulated - which means slowdown. However, back to the chip.
All PIII have either a 100mhz bus or a 133mhz bus. Those which have the ending xxxE [ie 667E] have a 133mhz bus. As the clock multiplier is fixed, putting a 667E [ie 133mhz*5] chip into a system which only has a 100mhz bus will only give you a 500mhz [100mhz*5] system - you have been warned! There is also another ending - B...

Power at a price Review ofIntelPentium III 1.13 GHz processorby
thepanther
Advantages: Fast Chip, newest instruction set Disadvantages: Far too priceycompared to AMD
...The Intel PIII is one of the two most powerfull processors on the market along with the AMD Athlon. The real problem I have with the Intel offereing is there price. I dont believe that the PIII is better than the Athlon, I believe its close but no where near as the price difference suggests.
The Pentium III was the first Intel chip to have SSE(Streaming SIMD* Extensions)
* Single Edge Contact Cartridge
Basically this was MMX 2, it does all the jobs that MMX was supposed to do and never really made a great job of. SSE contains 70 new instructions for the processor. The PIII has been marketed to be able to speed up your internet experience. Well I have to question this claim. Allthough it can process fast, "Your computer is only as fast as its weakest component". And as far As I am concerned there is not a modem out there that can...

I purchased this CPU during a mass upgrade for my PC a couple of years ago when it was in dire need of speeding up. My old processor was an AMD Athlon which ran at a tiny 1.2GHz and wasn't capable of running the latest games, applications etc at any one... more

As Intel continues to offer new technology processors at very affordable price, the older technology processor's price has fallen dramatically to a very low level. The prices for processors are at record low level. This has helped the end... more
I have used this processor retail version in many a custom built PC that I have done for people. I have tried the D805 (2.66Ghz) and the 3.0Ghz version but for cost and performance this CPU is the one to have for cost and performance in the... more
This is the last based core duo processor, used for the low end market. But this doesn't mean that the processor is weak. I personally use now it's brother E2160 that is a few faster. As a difference from their brothers, the E4000 and the E 6000 family... more
