P4 is slick. Perhaps a better modified AMD that costs 500$ less can beat it in current applications, yet we had the same arguments being outspoken when the MMX technology first came about. The new chip is revolutionary in that its instruction set is completely different from its forefathers. While PII and PIII had much in common, P4 would better be called P2000. Its new instruction set called SSE2 (not 100% sure) is hardly used by any applications. Thus, an AMD or a PIII can whoop the new chip using old benchmark program. However, P4 will truly shine when popular operating systems get SSE2 enabling patches (like Windows ME).
Games and MPEGs run faster on the P4. But a 2k P4 system with the same mods costs 1.5k if bought with an AMD or a PIII. So that is 500$ more for top of the line. I thought it was worth it, because in my opinion the new chip has much promise. It is the wave of the future, and once more SSE2 apps are available we will truly see a performance difference. I am not a graphics designer, so I wouldn't give a damn if we didn't either. As long as games run super on the P4, I am happy and satisfied.
This upgrade is very good i got it and it increses computer performance by alot so i would get it.I would get it for these reasons it speeds up your computer to a much grater speed i have found also is (defanetly) good value for money and is the best upgrade ever that i have had i should know bhecause i have had about 50 upgrades throw the years. So the conclusion for this product is very good in my mind and i would buy it actually i have already ...

Advantages: Don't have a bad word Disadvantages: None!
able to get this baby for £1100 like I did as I have the right contacts! But it is cheapest on savastore.com at about £1500. You can pay for it monthly but I decide to use student overdrafts!!! Vaio is expensive but I believe that if you want good quality you will have to pay for it. Plus I paid about£1000 for my old Vaio and this one has much better spec.

Size= the tower is 18.8 cm x 38.9 cm x 39.6 cm, which is quite tall but slim; I don't really see mine for it is under the desk.
Weight= a heavy boy at 15.5 kg! Although I'm not that strong but can carry it!
Processor= 1 x IntelPentium4 560 3.6GHz. With HT (hyper-threading technology like they go on about in the adverts, basically makes it faster!) It's always got to be IntelPentium, I wouldn't recommend anything else.

Advantages: Customise before you buy, very easy to setup, Dell support and its products are reliable. Disadvantages: None so far
systems brought (it may though be a sign of the times that companies can provide better service at a lower cost to themselves and the consumer). In addition any upgrades can be easily accessed through Dell although this isn't one avenue I've been down yet.
So if your in the midst of chosing a computer don't avoid Dell.
