The competition in the CPU market hasn’t become any weaker. Despite the fact that both major processor developers, AMD and Intel, have almost run out of the scalability potential of their current processor cores, the companies keep on the armament drive by seeking new ways to speed up their CPUs. The shift to new 90nm technology, which will allow increasing the CPU clock frequencies further on without any difficulty, is expected to take place only in the end of this year – beginning of the next year. Therefore, the only weapon for the CPU developers will be the processor bus frequency increase, which doesn’t require and changes in the processor core. This Processor is a very awesome processor, it comes with 512kb L2 cache but has the same Northwood core that was released last January 2002, It can be compared to the Athlon XP 3200+ in terms of speed. The Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ also has the Hyperthreading technology which able this processor to perform multiple tasks at one tme. It means having to 2 logical CPU built into one Physical CPU
The most interesting feature of this processor besides the clock speed is its massive frontside bus amounting to 800 mhz. It is actually running at 200mhz but it is quad pumped so it yields a 800 mhz system bus. The 6.4GB/sec data transfer rate between the CPU and the chipset allows it to improve the processor’s performance due to the fact that it spends less time waiting for the new data.
To be able to maximize the Pentium’s enormous bus, you must have a DDR 400 SDRAM and a Motherboards dual channel support. This guarantees you’re memory bandwidth of 6.4GB/sec.
With the significant increase of the system bus frequency, I was amazed that I was able to play games and at the same time listening to my music without any decrease in performance. It’s true that when you buy the Pentium 4 with hyper threading technology it’s like buying to 2 processors in one package.
Overall, The high price is really worthy because of the performance that it gives. If you buy this one, I think you didn’t have to upgrade it in the next
Advantages: Quick, Cool, Easy to install Disadvantages: Not the fastest, but only costs about £120
...design by the researchers at Intel that has given way to a new era in processing capability and true multi tasking properties.
With support from Windows XP, motherboard and CPU your system will see two "logical" processors for the one actual CPU, still not able to deliver same performance levels as a
proper dual processing system but offers lower costs and power consumption.
Hyper-Threading capable processors (currently only 3.06GHz) execute two ... ...Conclusion
In conclusion Intel have really designed a winner CPU, the 3.00GHz with HT really packs a punch and features some latest advances in technology like Hyper-Threading which is a brilliant creation, not to discount the extra MHz speed and 800Mhz bus, 1MB L2 cache among other improvements. All these features make the 3.00Ghz a killer product and the best money can buy.
Also worth a mention is Intel special design which allows the CPU to ...

Advantages: 1 mb L2 cache, cheaper. Disadvantages: Your old socket 478 might not work.
Intel has come up with a new core again: This one is called the Prescott:
The Prescott has 1mb l2 cache which is distinguished by the name “Pentium 4 Prescott 3.0 GHZ”. It is a little bit slower than its Northwood counterpart. This processor has 13 new instructions in it which refer to as SSE 3. This new instructions are added to be able to optimized the different applications or programs that our Computer uses. The new improvements are very significant ... ...the Prescott also increases because Intel is planning to maximize the clock speeds of the future processors up to 4 GHZ by the end of 2004. The Prescott appears to be smaller only 112 square millimeters compared to the Northwood’s 146 square millimeters.
The Prescott will also offer some kind virus protection by implementing an execution protection (NX) technology. The (NX) technology separates the application and data to prevent buffer overflows. ...

As one of the more standard - mid-high end processors available today, the 3ghz chip is useful for most average and moderately demanding programs and games. When coupled with the correct memory, and graphics card you cant really go wrong, however for users who demand the most out of their system it doesnt really fit the bill.
For a start, its an excellent product if you're on a budget, weighing in at less then £120 nowadays its a real bargain. BUT, ... ...fanatics who loves to squeeze every last bit of juice out of their system, its not ideally a system you'll want to be purchasing soon, considering 4GHZ+ chips are now available.
Works like a dream for me, easy to install, easy to follow the instructions, and help from intels website like ive never seen.
The games I tested using it: DOOM3, FarCry, and 3dMark cpu tester.
All came out relatively well, but thats considering i have a 9600XT graphics ...

The Pentium 4c 3.0 ghz is running at 800 mhz front side bus which actually 200 mhz this because it is quad pumped. It has an L2 cache of 512k. The dfference between this cpu from the Pentium 4c is the new type of technology called Hyper Threading. The hyperthreading technology allows the cpu to work on different threads at the same time instead of waiting for the first thread to finished. The front side bus of the Pentium 4c is much faster than those ... ...today is only 400 mhz. To be able to solve this problem, When buying a motherboard choose a mobo with a dual channel capability to be able to double the data rate to 800 mhz. By increasing the bus speed the pentium 4 was able to improve the performance of its platforms, this is only possible because of the dual channel capability if the chipsets. The hyper threading technology proved to be a really smart way to increase the system performance. This ...

Advantages: FAST, Retail box comes with fan, sticker, manual Disadvantages: More expensive than Celerons, AMDs, etc
Okay, so I bought myself a motherboard (see Asus P4C800-E Deluxe review) to build a computer but it?s not a computer without the rest of the components. One of these other components I needed was the CPU. ?HUH? A C-P-What?!!!??.Well since you ask, I will tell you. CPU is an acronym for Central Processing Unit (aka: Processor). This is the computer?s brain and it plays an important role in a computer. This is where all the information ?processed? and where all the calculations are done. Generally, the faster the CPU, the better the performance but there are other factors to take into consideration. It usually looks like a square metal thing, with gold pins underneath but Pentium3?s have a single connector that slots into a slot rather than use pins.
The CPU I am reviewing is Intel?sPentium4 (P4 for short) 3.2GHz CPU. This one has ...
Advantages: VERY HIGH SPEED IN PROCESSING Disadvantages: : MAKES NOISE.
I got this just for two reasons; the number one reason is that my other Intel seems to be outdated and the number two reasons is that I wanted a more advanced and faster processor for my PC gaming so I had to buy this for these reasons. The processor comes in an orange packed colour with blue stripe at the edge of the pack and also with an instruction, heat stick and fan for cooling down the temperature.
The processor makes it outright for easy installation and application so no problem when it comes to installations and ease of use.
The IntelPentium43.0GHZ socket 775 CPU has hyper technology and I think that was the best processor computer product I could find in the market and I decided to buy it after a long battle between Intel and athlon processor on which one to buy. The Intelprocessors that I have been using have been ...
Advantages: Very fast with dual core great for games and editing videos or images Disadvantages: The fan supplied is quite loud but you can change it.
When I was building my computer at the start of summer I took allot of thought into what case and what motherboard and ram I needed so the first thing I got was a case and psu (power supply unit) both from maplin and cheap. When I went looking for a motherboard the next day I was not planning on buying an Intel one or a cpu but I am glad I did. The reason I did so was because he said it was one of the best out. So I had my dual core CPU after about a week of finding the other parts i started to install windows to my horror the hard drive I bought off eBay started to make a strange noise. it had to be sent to Holland for repair but as soon as I got it back and installed xp windows it worked very fast and reliably and I have not real problems with IntelPentium D 945 / 3.4GHzprocessor at all I am glad I stuck with Intel instead of amd I ...
