I purchased this CPU during a mass upgrade for my PC a couple of years ago when it was in dire need of speeding up. My old processor was an AMD Athlon which ran at a tiny 1.2GHz and wasn't capable of running the latest games, applications etc at any one time.
At the time I was on a strict budget since I needed to buy a new mother board, power supply, graphics card and processor so I had to hunt around for the best deals going on at the time. The Intel P4 3.0GHz Socket 775 CPU with Hyper-Threading technology was the best deal I could find on the web at the time, and boy does this processor deliver compared to my old one. With just a processor upgrade alone my system speed was dramatically increased and is now capable of running all the latest games, applications etc with no problem whatsoever. I also see this processor being what I call "future-proof" meaning it will be in my system for quite some time before requiring a replacement, so its a good investment allround.
The processor came in its box, along with its instructions and heatsink and fan. I managed to install it without any problems and relatively quickly. As soon as I turned my system on it started to deliver right away without any problems, and I still haven't had any since. One minor issue I have with it is the fan it comes supplied with appears to be rather noisy. This is nothing massive but it can be quite irritating at times.
In terms of being good value for money, I seriously recommend users purchase this CPU if you want a low-cost but reasonably high-spec processor in your systems. I assure you that you won't be disappointed with its performance, however there are newer CPUs on the market which are slightly better but for a higher price. I also recommend you research thoroughly before deciding what CPU to choose since studies show that Intels aren't as good for gaming etc compared to AMDs (just a thought). Anyway, I hope this review sheds some light on the P4 and aids you all in choosing it amongst the others out there.

...reason is that my other Intel seems to be outdated and the number two reasons is that I wanted a more advanced and faster processor for my PC gaming so I had to buy this for these reasons. The processor comes in an orange packed colour with blue stripe at the edge of the pack and also with an instruction, heat stick and fan for cooling down the temperature.

I've had this processor for about 1 year now and its still doing its job. It's a pretty fast processor and can run all the latest programs on my computer. I used to have alot slower computer when i only have a 1.5 ghz processor and the difference is huge. Its noticable from the second you turn your computer on.
I mainly use my computer for the internet, msn, listening to music and for photo editing. For these the processor is great and never misses ... ...computer for playing games on occasions and it it keeps up with that aswell. I usually play games on the lowest settings though and if its much higher than that it can be slow and not very good but this could be down to my graphics card aswell.
I also watch films on my pc and its good for that aswell. Its a pretty good processor all round really.

Advantages: 3.0 GHZ processor, Hyper Threading Technology, 800FSB, 2mb Cache Disadvantages: Supplied Hetsink, fiddly, annoying and not that good
The intel pentium 4 is equipped with 64bit technology which is equipped for future applications.
It has hyperthreading tehnology which allows calculations to be done twice as fast.
I have found that it runs quite hot, mine runs about 60'c which im not sure is healthy, however this may be because i have not fitted the annoying heatsink properly. However it runs fine at 60'c so im not sure how much of a problem it really is.

A problem i found witht the processor is the supplied Fan its so hard to fit, you only get this type of fan with the 775 processor so be warned it is fidally and annoying!! also try and fit the fan BEFORE you put the motherboard in your pc, i made this mistake and suffered because of it!
But other than that, the penium 4 is amazing and beats ...

...and still looking for a Intel proccesor to suit your needs, this is the best buy you got.
Compare to the older Pentium 4 it got good multithreading process.Nice cache, even better that its former version., but you need high memory capacity, try loading a 1G memory a 256 MD DDr video card, know thats the computer you need to have.
Overall, this is the best for you nothing best but the cheapest and powerfull processor like this one ...
