Whether performing video editing, playing graphic intensive games or running multiple background tasks simultaneously, users today have high expectations for their PC performance...
more...with little tolerance for degradation in experience. For people who run multiple demanding applications simultaneously, the Intel Pentium D processor is Intel's preferred desktop processor. Because it is powered by two execution cores in one processor it offers exceptional functionality and performance so consumers get the most productivity and enjoyment from their PCs when one or more people are running multiple applications at the same time. In today's usage environment, processor speed alone is not enough to ensure a great experience. Today users require the power of simultaneous computing found in a dual core processor. An Intel dual-core processor delivers consumer value by providing additional computing resources that expand the PC's capabilities and provide platform-level advancements for consumers in the form of higher throughput and simultaneous computing. I bought this processor a few months ago. I always had a good experience with Intel and once more I enjoyed their offering. This processor is a decent performer running at 3 GHz. It can fit in any motherboard having LGA775 socket. It is based on 65 nm manufacturing technology. And for sure it is dual core!

Architecture Features:
Enhanced SpeedStep technology, streaming SIMD extensions 2, streaming SIMD extensions 3, Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology, Execute Disable Bit capability

This processor runs at 3 GHz. It has decent FSB of 800 MHz. It is equipped with 2 MB l2 cache per core which means a total of 4 MB cache.

The power requirements of this processor are a bit higher than those of the newer Core 2 Duo processors but still they are not that high. The processor heats up a bit, so, take care of the airflow across the processor.

This processor performs good in games and other processor demanding applications. The price of the processor has decreased significantly since the launch of Core 2 Duo line of processors. So, these days they are extremely affordable. It also comes with a good 3 years warranty.

If you have got some money go for Intel Core 2 Duo family of processors. Although good, it is not better than Core 2 duo's in any respect.
