...I'm a great Sony fan, but when i saw the ad for this pc, i am very suspicious. Sony's Laptops are generally expensive and not as well designed as its other line of products. it says that its the cream of the crop of any PC, however, this seems to be an ad from years away. Review of Intel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processor by  Mazz

Advantages: reliable, proven performance and quality, best supported
Disadvantages: costs more but you pay for quality

...I will be the first to hold my hands up and say that I am a big Intel fan. I have owned a couple of Pentium III processor machines over the last few years since it was first introduced. The first was a 500 MHz and the other (also my present machine), an 800 MHz. I can't say I've had any problem with either both in terms of performance and of reliability, it has served my needs perfectly. They are fast, reliable and although pricier than AMD's equivalent, generally pretty good value for. I've also used machines powered by AMD's Athlon and noticed very little difference in relation of speed, especially on 3D graphics programs and games, although there is no replacement for proven reliability and quality and that is why I will probably stick with Intel. I chose the P!!! because it was the best supported and most popular chip... Read review

...I upgraded from an Intel Pentium II 450 mhz to the new Intel Pentium III 700 mhz mainly because of the upgrade offer at a low cost. I found that immediately there was a noticeable difference and just the way in which my computer carried out every day tasks like opening programs and the likes seemed to fly through as if my old chip was carrying 4 suitcases with it on it's chores! I find no problems at all with it and I would seriously recommend it to anyone after a high speed processor with lightning speed and good capabilities.... Read review

...Unlike the jump from Pentium to Pentium II, which could justifiably be described as a revolutionary step, Intel's move from Pentium II to Pentium III is evolutionary. The new chip, which will initially be available in 450MHz and 500MHz clock speeds, uses the same 100MHz system bus, and Intel's preferred 440BX motherboard chipset, as its predecessor. The main differences are optimisations. In particular, the new chip has 70 extra instructions which have been designed to accelerate the performance of multimedia and Web-based operations such as audio/video streaming. In other words, the Pentium III is to the Pentium II what the Pentium MMX was to the vanilla Pentium. Good for calculation works

...I had built my computer powered by a Pentium III 500 MHz processor with Abit motherboard. The RAM is 128 MB with a Riva TNT2 32MB graphics card and a 16 bit standard soundcard. The harddisk space is 10GB. This computer is mostly used in my research for performing complex calculations. Until now, the computer have no problem performing it and I could get the results after one minutes. Previously when I am running the calculations on another almost similar computer but with an AMD K6 500 MHz, it performed much slower compared to the system I am having now. My personal opinion on Intel Pentium III chip is nonetheless the best. Thumbs up for Intel but it would be great if the price of the processor can be lowered to match that of AMD. I heard that the Athlon is good from other people's review but I havent got any chance to try it. I would... Read review
