Manufacturer's product description
This 333MHz Pentium II CPU and processor board kit upgrades your Compaq Professional Workstation 6000 to an ultra-fast dual-processing machine. Like all Pentium IIs, the processor combines MMX technology with the features of the Pentium Pro, such as Dynamic Execution, Dual Independent Bus architecture, and 32-bit optimization. This CPU upgrade is equipped with 512K L2 cache. Because dual-processor computers are designed to use two processors of identical speeds, this upgrade is intended for model 6333 of the Workstation 6000 series. Advantages: fast, new Disadvantages: expensive
...I upgraded from an IntelPentiumII 450 mhz to the new IntelPentium III 700 mhz mainly because of the upgrade offer at a low cost. I found that immediately there was a noticeable difference and just the way in which my computer carried out every day tasks like opening programs and the likes seemed to fly through as if my old chip was carrying 4 suitcases with it on it's chores! I find no problems at all with it and I would seriously recommend it to anyone after a high speed processor with lightning speed and good capabilities....

Advantages: Good price, life time warranty, new technology for old pc's Disadvantages: Might work as a bottle neck, if your pc lacks RAM
...The evergreen Spectra 333 is a direct replacment for you old Pentium CPU, it replaces Pentium 75Mhz and up and offers a big boost in performance.
The upgrade uses an AMD K6 II as the CPU and comes on an adapter board that alters the voltage to make it compatable with your system, the heatsink and fan are also provided as are BIOS updates. It also uses 3D Now technology to provide extra support for graphics in games and general applications.
If you can not afford another another computer or can not afford to upgrade the motherboard and processor, then the Spectra 333 is an affordable compromise for your system. The price may seem high at first until you take into account that a new motherboard and memory are not required. The price is around the £120 mark, but cheaper ones are available. Easily a good choice if your old computer can...

Advantages: They are very powewrful processors Disadvantages: Too expensive
...I'm not if AMD have done this but Intel definitely have.
When they introduced the PIII 450 MHz for the first time, they did not mention to the public that it was only 10% faster than it's little brother the PentiumII 450MHzprocessor.
When the gigahertz processor was introduced, it was tested by a popular computer magazine. I found the results to be surprising. In some areas of performance the Gigahertz processor was SLOWER than the 850 MHzprocessor.
When ever a new processor is introduced it is always overpriced. This overpricing is not little it is ridicously high. A month or two after the release the prices drop massively. Then soon after a new processor is introduced, faster and more powerful. When this show will end who knows.
These very powerful processors don't even operate to maximum performance because of the operating...
