Manufacturer's product description
The Intel Xeon processor is designed for high-performance workstation and server applications. Based on the new Intel NetBurst micro-architecture, it is binary compatible with previous Intel Architecture processors. The Intel Xeon processor is scalable to two processors in a multiprocessor system providing exceptional performance for applications running on advanced operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows 2000 and UNIX. The Intel Xeon processor extends the power of the Intel Pentium III Xeon processor with new features designed to make this processor the right choice for powerful workstation, advanced servers, and mission-critical applications. Advanced features simplify system management and meet the needs of a robust IT environment, resulting in maximized system up time, convenient system management, and optimal configuration. The Intel Xeon processor is ideal for compute intensive and heavy workload applications that require floating-point performance and the intense use of graphics for design. For your demanding application needs, Intel Xeon processor-based workstations provide the ideal solution. The Intel Xeon processor shows immediate performance improvements across most software applications available today, with performance levels varying depending on the application category type and the application's tendency to execute instructions and instruction sequences that are optimally executed on the new micro architecture. This new processor is designed specifically for multi-tasking environments and provides outstanding performance for multi-threaded applications. Additionally, workstations based on the Intel Xeon processor allow designers, financial analysts, and other professionals to more quickly and effectively create designs, analyze and visualize complex data. In summary, the Intel Xeon processor based upon the Intel NetBurst micro architecture, delivers an acceleration of performance across applications where users are truly able to experience and appreciate it.
Advantages: Established, good value, stable, large L2 cache Disadvantages: Not the cheapest nor the best performing
...This processor, based on the highly successful Pentium III core is well established in servers - the large (up to 2mb) L2 cache allows good server performance for multiple users. It can be used in dual or quad array, and currently is available in speeds of up to 800mhz. New competitors in the field, including P4Xeon and AMD MP Athlon 'Palomino' may be ahead in terms of performance, but currently P4Xeons cost the earth, and P4 is doubted to be much better performers than PIII anyway. The AMDs are currently unreleased to the market, therefore leaving the PIII to take up the slack in small server markets. Its core enhances over the PII Xeon make it a more viable option, and price drops to keep the PIII competitive with AMD and P4 make it economically sensible. The PIII's stability (key feature for a server) plays an important role...

Advantages: very fast, reliable Disadvantages: pricey, need to have IT knowledge
...This dual 2GHZ core processor with combined speed of 4Ghz and a 4Mb Cache makes a very fast pc and will cope easily with many demanding programs running at once. There are probably better deals for the same or better processors, but you are paying for the quality, many dont have a high 4Mb cache. This would be most recommend for IT technicians or people who know what they are doing.
The main let down of this is the variation in the price, while this may be good, you dont want to be paying too much when you can get a compute just as good for the same high price or cheaper. But as i said before, if you can get a good deal, and know what your talking about, this is most recommended...

Advantages: ideal for intense computing environments Disadvantages: none
...Very good Speed and unbelieveable performance and The Dual-Core IntelXeonprocessor 5100 series is ideal for intense computing environments, 32-bit and 64-bit business-critical applications and high-end workstation and Analysis in my mind Dual-Core IntelXeonprocessor 5100 series-based platforms are expected to deliver up to 2.25 times the performance and 2.35 times the performance/watt of previous-generation dual-core IntelXeonprocessors and realiable performance and I always advice my friends, visiter and colike. In my view overall good performance Easily purchase. Good Manufacture support and overall we see performance, efficiency, design very valuable. Mostly people perfer and All this report in my survey and judge 80% people perfer this and I also recommend you please purchase....
