Neural networks are not the easiest thing to explain, but Phil tackles this well, despite the necessary inclusion of some pretty tricky mathematics in the text.
Neural networks are ... ...send each other the results - a bit like neurons in the brain.
They can be trained classify inputs and recognise patterns.
This bok is not for the intellectually-chalenged, but is well worth a read if you're interested in finding out a little more about these fascinating little things and what they can (and might) do.

Neural networks are compositions of interconnected electronic processing elements which perform calculations and send each other the results - a bit like neurons in the brain.
They can be trained classify inputs and recognise patterns.
