INTRODUCTION
For those of you who don't know what a Iomega Zip 250 USB Powered is, it is a portable storage device which accepts disks roughly double the thickness of a standard floppy disk. They store about 70 times the amount of data than a standard 1.44MB floppy disk does. The device is a small, lightweight and attractive looking device that can be easily placed near your computer without taking up much desk space. The good thing about the device is that it is powered from your computer's USB port and requires no additional mains plug or batteries.

As part of a new small office network computer installation I decided upon Iomega Zip drives as my back up facility. I have used an older model Zip drive attached to the parallel port in the past. The printer was then daisy chained onto the back of the Zip drive. Apart from slight slowness in large back up procedures (graphics files for instance) and the inability to use the printer and back up at the same time, the drive had given incident free service for over three years. My archive disks are already in 100 Mb format. They are easily transportable and are quite robust whether travelling in a slip case in a briefcase or jacket pocket.
