It’s long been known in the community that dabmim is on a quest! He’s quest to find low fat, low sugar food that actually taste nice: One that you don’t want to instantly throw away or worse one that leaves a nasty after taste in your mouth.
Walking around Sainsbury’s recently he’s eyes were drawn to a new product in the fridge compartment. On the shelf sat an attractive box with the word’s ‘Absolutely delicious’ shouting at him from the box in big red letters on a yellow background. Also in big letter (though not quite as loud) was the humble word ‘Diet’.
As I have said the pack contained six pots of the following flavours: Strawberry (2), Pear and mango, Apricot and nectarine, Blackberry and Blackcurrant, and fruits of the forest. This op is about the strawberry flavoured one.
I had mixed emotions about trying this product as I have been severely let down by this type of product before. So I removed the lid slowly and put the pot to my nose for the first part of my ritual of trying new foods. I was pleasantly surprised by the obvious strawberry smell that entered to nose from the open pot. Next came the tasting, after all a nice smell is great but useless without taste.
As I spooned the yoghurt onto my spoon I noticed how thick it was, unlike most normal yoghurts. This one certainly seemed luxurious enough in texture and the smell was nice so things can only get better can’t they?
First spoon in my mouth and I was definitely happy, this yoghurt was the best ‘healthy option’ yoghurt I have tasted. It had real strawberries and pleasant flavouring. A slight draw back (though not on that will stop me eating them) was the fact you could taste the sweetener, I am used to sweetener so it didn’t bother me but other it might have a negative effect.
I was surprised at the real strawberries in the pot; usually they are few and far between. And the flavour was superb also considering the fact it was diet!
The yoghurts are virtually fat free (0.1 grams of fat) and are just 54 calories; the pack informs you that they can help slimming as part of calorie controlled diet.

I have only seen them in packs of six and in fact the time I bought them was the very first time I had seen them. I can’t remember the price I paid but I guess it was around the £1.70 mark.
The box the pots come in is attractive though nothing special and the pots are typical yoghurt pots with foil lids. Nothing outstanding in the packaging but there certainly is in the content.
With the slight draw back of being able to taste the sweetener, might put some people off this otherwise high quality product.
