When my sister told me what the iRobot Roonba 560 does I could not believe it but she was so convincing on the performance of the vacuum cleaner that I had to have it. I have had it for several months now and not only I don't regret to have bought it but it is so amazing that I have to write about it. The Roomba robot 560 is round, 33 cm. diameter x 8 cm. high, it certainly goes under everything. There is a small docking station where the robot recharges the battery and stays until the button to start is pushed or the time and day has been programmed; in fact it is possible and very easy to programme it for different times and days of the week. Once the robot has been programmed, at the assigned day and time after a funny short " tune " Roomba leaves the docking station and starts sweeping the floor; laminate, carpet or tiles, it does the cleaning methodically and completely; even now, after few month of using it I am still amazed to see how well it goes everywhere, it even detects where it is dirtier so that it stays longer in that spot. The Roomba 560 also comes with two sensors that act as "wall" or "light house". The sensor can be put at the base of the architrave of a door (open). The sensors have, as I have said, two functions: If it is used as a "wall"- it will not allow the robot to go over that threshold. If it is used as a "light house" it will allow the robot (after it has cleaned the first room, about 35 minutes) to go over and clean the second room.
Since there are two sensors it is possible to clean three rooms, one after the other; after the third room is cleaned the robot goes all the way back to the room where there is the docking station and docks to recharge and be ready for the next programmed day! It is really amazing.
The dust and small particles are collected in a draw in the front and is easy removable and cleanable; I usually empty it every three rooms. Underneath there are two rotating brushes that, again, are very easy to remove and I usually clean every month.
