After about 20yrs I have found a product that actually helped me put on weight, for thin people this is proven to be harder than a fatty losing weight, thin people who try these weight gain products with talk that they will beef up within weeks, normally without any success after months of taking this stuff, normally give up weight training and trying because it does get anoying eating 8 meals aday and drinking this weight gain stuff and never putting an ounce on.
BACK GROUND STUFF I'm 34 and have just stopped smoking after 17yrs, I started to weight train, reading on internet about hard gainers (people that have trouble beefing up) also read about muscles and compounds that help muscles that are produced naturally in the body, with this knowledge, this is what I have come up with, so if there is any thin people out there or you know any let them know about this, they will thank you.
THE PRODUCT Pure Creatine Monohydrate. I bought this at Argos for £28.00 (abit pricey I know, but I think it's worth it)
MY WEIGHT GAIN PLAN This plan doesn't put FAT on this puts MUSCLE on, (muscles are lighter than fat) It doesn't matter if you use free weights or machines, just train with very heavy weights (must be able to lift with good form for 8 reps) lift until you can't lift any more, then rest for a couple of minutes then repeat 3 times do this for every muscle group you wish to work. that the work out now the important bit, on the day after the work out do nothing REST, this give the muscles time to repair them selfs, if you don't the muscles will not recover and they will not grow they can even shrink. Also every day take 1 heaped teaspoon of Pure Creatine Monohydrate 4 - 6 times daily ( tastes like sh*t, you have been warned). You can eat what you want, try and make it lots of little meals but often.
MY RESULTS I have put on almost a stone. i have put 1.5 inches on my arms, 2.5 inches on my chest, and starting to feel good about my size, which is the most important thing of all.
I've read and commented on this op previously, but since I have gained a considerable amount of knowledge about Creatine and weight gain. Firstly you might want to cut down on the 3-4 heaped spoonfuls per day as you should only take this amount during the loading phase (usually 4-5 days)and 5g per day thereafter. If your'e over-dosing on the stuff you may feel pain in your kidneys and liver. Great to hear about your gains, though you'll find that half of the weight gained is water retention and will dissapear when you come off creatine, as it hydrates the muscles during your workouts, giving them a bulier look. Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying you haven't put muscle on and Creating IS very effective. I in the same boat as you - the high metabolism type who can't put on weigh, but I've made an impressive breakthrough recently. I eat LOADS for just under two weeks (tuna, cheese, full fat milk) and recorded all calories being consumed. Furthermore I consumed 2.2kg of INTERACTIVE NUTRITION MAMMOTH 2500 over this period (2 shakes a day) and I've gained 21lbs!!! (7lbs from Creatine and 14lbs from the gainer shakes). I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS STUFF. Please contact me via e-mail if you have any questions! :o) -Dan.
Try a power lifting regime, concentrate on bench press, squats, dead lifts and military press try to adjust the weight so that you do only four reps and feel like your eyes are going to burst out of your head on the last two.
Also I know this sounds crazy but to on weight you have to slow your metabolism. Try eating one meal per day, and eat until your bloated then laze about better still go to bed.
This does really work and is the main reason that dieters end up putting on more weight after that they were before they began a diet.
Boxers eat ice cream before every meal to put on weight before fights, I havent tried that though. But it makes sense as their insulin (the hormone that controls weight gain) would go through the roof allowing most of the nutrient to be absorbed by the body.

Aim for 5000 - 6000 calories per day. The weight gain stuff mentioned gives you 2500 from 2 servings!
