If i had to choose again, i would choose different company Advantages: - the iron heats really fast, - 3m cable - very useful thing, - quite big steam output and shot Disadvantages: - the steamer making really strange voices, - its quite heavy, - in higher temperatures (allowed f It is my first bought iron (before i was using one Tefal iron - light and quite good one, dont remember the model). This iron had to be not a budget one, but for a years. After buying it i was a little dissapointed, and if had to choose again, probably i would search an iron among Tefal (or try others, before buying). Here are pluses and minuses. Philips GC8261 is nice iron by Philips.It is easy to use.It has simple instructions for use.Ironing is easier.It has digital steam control.The steam ready control takes 2 min. to prepare.It has a storage stand.It also has steam lock.It has cord & hose storage.It has digital control panel.It is very stylish. Philips 4630i Iron Advantages: Heats up quickly and has loads of steam power Disadvantages: Doesn't iron out creases - very disappointing performance We purchased the Philips GC4639i iron yesterday (27/12/08) and were highly disappointed with its performance. Amongst it's claims were that it made ironing creases out of Cotton and Linen easy and effective. While we have no doubts that it delivered a good amount of steam in both continuous and power modes, and that the iron heated up very quickly, the results were unacceptable on our cotton business shirts. As for the ionic steam.. not really sure ... ...correctly, so we visited the Philips site and every review site possible to find out if our ironing techniques were lacking..but apparently not. After 3 attempt at ironing 2 cotton business shirts that had been hung to dry on coat hangers, the shirts still were not as well pressed as those that I had ironed with our 7 year old Sunbeam Pro-steam 110 (purchase price AUD40)last week and we returned the iron today. Not good! Advantages: Very efficient when new, I was very impressed for the first few months. Disadvantages: Poor quality product, not durable, and dreadful customer service from Philips staff ...over time. I phoned Philips for advice - they confirmed that no descaling should be necessary...but tell that to the dirty brown sludge that spat out every time I tried to iron something. So, ultimately, the iron got louder and louder (a downside of steam generators) and the performance got worse and worse, until finally, I just couldn't put up with the dripping heap of rubbish any more! I stress that it was fab when new, but it's lack of durability, ... laura star ironing system Advantages: works well when its working Disadvantages: does not last long Yes having read some of the other reviews i wish i had read them before buying ours .Yes they work really well,but we have constantly had leaks from the main cylinder and now we have been told it will cost £200 for a new cylinder plus the fitting costs, not worth it . cost a lot of money and they constantly break down and the repair costs are stupid. had ours for 3 years and is now going in the bin.Would strongly advise not to entertain buying one ...
