Reliable, basic steam generator
Review of Morphy Richards 42270 Jetstream Generator by
richysgirl
Advantages: Light, easy to use, easy to refill, makes ironing quicker and easier.
Disadvantages: Difficult to store, tank poor shape.
...needing to be refilled, the Morphy Richards lasts me for at least an hour.
With the water tank (which can't be detatched) the iron isn't particularly easy to store, I've kept the original box and return the iron to that after each use but with the box being cardboard I'm not sure that this offers a longterm solution.
I've also had a bit of a problem placing the iron and tank on my ironing board. It doesn't feel all that secure so I think that at ...

fabulous
Review of Philips GC 8220/02 by
ricecake
Advantages: great
Disadvantages: bit heavy - but that is what you are buying
I have to disagree with the person who was very negative about this 'iron', I can only say you simply do not iron! I have been ironing for 30 years and this is by far the best I have ever used and will continue to use, walks all over my previous normal steam irons, and it is going to be larger as it is a steam generator not an iron!! So please do not be put off by this persons neg obviously has never really done much ironing?? I have a family of ...

Morphy Richards iron
Review of Morphy Richards 40669 by
becks1005
Advantages: Large water tank, non-stick soleplate
Disadvantages: none
I've always bought cheap irons in the past but as they tend to mark easily and hence mark your clothes, I decided to buy a slightly more expensive one. With so many to choose from, the main reason I chose this model in the end was because it was half price at Tesco...£15.00. It has a non-stick soleplate so it's less likely to mark and comes with a two year guarantee. Other features include anti-scale system, 400ml water tank, illuminated settings ... ...been very positive. Although I initially thought the 400ml water tank was pretty irrelevant, it's actually quite useful as I don't have to keep refilling it if I've got a lot of ironing to do. It is a bit bigger than the cheap irons I've been used to but if anything this has been advantageous. Overall I've been delighted with this iron, I've now had it three months and as I expected with a reputable brand like this, I've had no problems whatsoever. ...

Iron Easily With Philips
Review of Philips GC 4340 Azure Precise by
Surj1
Advantages: Vertical Steam, Special Tip & Good Design
Disadvantages: Price
The Philips GC 4340 is a precise steam iron which has a special tip so ironing is made easier for those hard to reach places on some garments. I have used the iron a few times and can say that its quite easy to use compared to the iron we had before this one. I'm comparing it on the basis that the iron we had before had a load of different setting for ironing which I found very confusing.
The GC 4340 is a solid iron, black and grey in colour. Not ... ...garments. Other features of the Philips iron include:
- 350 ml capacity water tank
- Vertical steam refreshes hanging garments
- Auto shut off if left unused for a certain time - Variable steam settings
- Pointed steam tip with elongated steam slots - Anti-drip valve - 3m cord
- Cushioned hand grip
- Dimensions are 15.8(h)x12.5(w)x30.5(d) cm
Overall I have found the Philips GC 4340 steam iron to be very easy to use and operate. The cord is ...

Tefal Ultraglide Easycord 60
Review of Tefal FV4260G8 Ultraglide 60 by
MatB
Advantages: De-creased clothes
Disadvantages: Burnt fingers if you're not careful
Tefal Ultraglide Easycord 60
I'm a bloke. I don't DO ironing. Well only shirts and work trousers, and the odd t-shirts if its really creased.
I've used an iron my gran received as a give-away with a catalogue for years. Recently its been leaking all over the place so I decided it was time for a new one.
I may be a little biased with my previous iron, but for £20 with a ceramic sole plate, you can't really go wrong. It's got a large water ... ...of ironing I do. If you iron lots of thicker stuff it may struggle. I tend to use the instantaneous steam boost when ironing thicker trousers. This gives a good head of steam, but would not be appropriate to use all the time.
What else does it do? Errrm, apart from ironing its got a self-clean mechanism (which oddly involves pressing the button and taking a gadget out so not really SELF clean); a squirty thing for extra water up front; and a handy ...
