Should've bought a Phillips 4340 :-/
Advantages: Lightweight. Good for fiddly bits that require steam not pressing. Disadvantages: Filling is laboursome. Can't cope with tough creases.
A Comet instore promotion of £10 off meant I got this for £39.99 - WAY more than I could've paid online! :-( And I'm not impressed. It's fine for your normal clothes, but it struggles with 'hard' cottons such as you get with starchy cotton teatowels. So there's no way it can cope with tough denim or my John Lewis cotton duvet cover (more creases than an aged elephant). Temp control is a 'plasticky' slider, not as easy as a wheel.
Vertical steam: ... ...require steam shot rather than actual pressing.
Filling: easy as the cap is large - but you have to invert the iron so you need to unplug it & allow it to cool down a bit first otherwise the steam goes mental.
I had a Breville Opus Resilium Pro previously (Fantastic!) and boy do I ever regret dropping that & cracking it, as it is no longer in production. ...

Steaming ahead of the market!
Advantages: Everything! Disadvantages: So expensive!
This iron is simply amazing; expensive, but amazing. You could probably iron two tee shirts at once, it's so powerful and quick! I only need to iron one side of a garment once, rather than going over the same spot several times or spray it with water first, even on jeans! I have just done a duvet cover, folded in half, ironing only one side and finished it in about a minute!
Don't be worried by all that steam either; there are several presets on ... ...the type of material you are ironing, so you won't destroy any delicate garments. The steam is so powerful that you can even hold the iron a couple of inches above your clothes and blast out the creases without touching the material, saving delicate garments from damage. Make sure to use a low setting though!
This iron works by filling the reservoir with tap water and letting it heat up for approximately 30 seconds. Make sure you have chosen your ...

laura star ironing system
Advantages: works well when its working Disadvantages: does not last long
Yes having read some of the other reviews i wish i had read them before buying ours .Yes they work really well, but we have constantly had leaks from the main cylinder and now we have been told it will cost £200 for a new cylinder plus the fitting costs, not worth it . cost a lot of money and they constantly break down and the repair costs are stupid. had ours for 3 years and is now going in the bin.Would strongly advise not to entertain buying one ...

Not good!
Advantages: Very efficient when new, I was very impressed for the first few months. Disadvantages: Poor quality product, not durable, and dreadful customer service from Philips staff
...over time. I phoned Philips for advice - they confirmed that no descaling should be necessary...but tell that to the dirty brown sludge that spat out every time I tried to iron something.
So, ultimately, the iron got louder and louder (a downside of steam generators) and the performance got worse and worse, until finally, I just couldn't put up with the dripping heap of rubbish any more!
I stress that it was fab when new, but it's lack of durability, ...

... So What Is Comfort Vaporesse?
Comfort Vaporesse, quite simply is scented water you put in your iron. It claims on the bottle that it will make ironing easier as it contains fibre moisturisers that help the steam smooth away creases. It also claims to infuse your clothing with long lasting freshness and protect your iron from limescale, helping to prolong it's life. It is available in 2 varieties, original and Lilly and rice flower. I am ... ...everything, mainly saving it for bedding and my daughters clothing. Would I recommend it. YES! I have tried cheaper, own brand makes and they are very poor alternatives which I wouldn't bother with. I love Comfort Vaporesse Lilly and rice flower and will continue to buy it. ...
