STEAM GENERATOR IRON - ITS A BLAST
Review of Imetec IRON MAX by klofron

Advantages: STEAM FUNCTION MAKES IRONING VERY EASY
Disadvantages: BULKY AND BUILD QUALITY COULD BE BETTER.

Firstly, I must confess to not being the main user of this product in our home - my dear wife, bless her does most of it, although I am quite capable and can and do use it from time to time. TECHNICAL STUFF 60g/min steam output. Max 4 bar pressure. 2300 watts. Aluminum soleplate. 1 litre water tank. Vertical steam. Safety thermostat. Ergonomic handle. Faster ironing. Suitable for use with tap or distilled water - no filters required. Suitable for ...
...steam during usage, dramatically reducing ironing time and giving better overall results. BUILD The iron comprises of a standard looking ironing connected to a large (30 cm long x 25 cm wide x 15 cm deep approx) water tank, by means of a rubber pressure tube which the steam passes through. The tank has a safety valve where you fill it up with water and three indicator lights on the front to let you know when it’s switched on, when the iron is hot ... Read review

Philips Azur Steam Iron GC4219 - Good Quality
Review of Philips GC 4219 by wellybooty

Advantages: Large water tank, high steam capacity, powerful
Disadvantages: Pretty heavy & chunky

...that, I would say the Philips Azur has helped me get through the ironing that little bit quicker than I normally would, which has got to be a bonus! One area where it shone is when I turned the temperature gauge to its maximum, Linen setting to iron two pairs of linen trousers - the iron in all honesty was excellent and dealt with these items much faster than any previous iron I have used. The other great thing about it is it' super long power ...
...be that it does not have a 'Safety thermal cut out' function, which I feel, should really be coming as standard now; my last iron at under £30 3 years ago had it, so I really do think that for the money, the Azur should have it. All in all, if I had paid the full £49.99 recommended retail price (as from Argos, June 2005) then I don't think I'd be too chuffed with it, as in my eyes, there is not enough about it to warrant that sort of price, however, ... Full Steam Ahead Rowenta
Review of Rowenta DM 520 Precisio by GavMan

Advantages: Brand reputation, AirGlide soleplate
Disadvantages: Absolutely none

The Rowenta DM520 has got to be simply the best iron that I have ever owned. I paid £49.99 for it out of Curry’s a few months back, a little pricey you might say, but I can honestly admit, it is worth every single penny. This is the second Rowenta iron I’ve owned. The first lasted for 9½ years, and I’m positive would still be working today, if I my sister hadn’t knocked it off the ironing board onto the ceramic tiles on the ...
...I like most on my Rowenta are marked with asterisks. Firstly, the electronic 3 stage switch off system. This is the first iron I’ve had which has had this facility. What happens is if the iron is switched on and left in an upright position or 30 seconds resting on its soleplate or lying on its side, an internal safety feature automatically switches off the iron, causing the automatic switch-off indicator to flash rapidly. To switch this off, ... Read review

If you hate ironing, buy this!
Review of Tefal 2820 Pressing Compact by Rushworth

Advantages: Good value, cuts ironing time in half, looks good, robust
Disadvantages: takes time to heat up, difficult to refill 1/2 way through

I have spent the best part of 30 years hating ironing, leaving it until I have a huge pile each week. This iron has change that, I can't believe I can say that it is now a pleasure!! Bought the iron when it was on offer at MAKRO about 6 months ago. Took it home, filled it with water and waited for it heat up. This is one of the downfalls... with an ordinary iron the heat it pretty instant, with these you have to wait about 5/10 mins. Usually I can ...
...full steam, before needing to refill the tank. When you unscrew the tap to refill the tank red hot steam gushes out.... I have learned to use a towel when unscrewing it.. however, there should be some warning about this. SO - HOW DOES IT IRON? Most things only need ironing on one side with this, as it does both sides at once. The best example I can give you is with jeans, which as you all know are horrendous to iron. Well this iron goes through ... Read review

Breville Opus Swift Glide Iron IR13
Review of Breville IR13 by cheepcheep1

Advantages: Dry tank alert light, Extra large, easy-fill water tank
Disadvantages: A little heavy

...This is where the Breville Opus Swift Glide IR13 comes in. It's efficiency to deal with even the most creased of items, it helps me sail through my 'clothes mountain' in no time at all. (well, about an hour or so!) There really are no disadvantages to write home about, apart from the fact that it is a little on the heavy side, otherwise all it's features are advantageous to the ironer. I love the swift glide, as it makes it so much easier to press ...
...and due to it's powerful element which produces a fast heat up, this takes the pressure out of a mundane job. The 2000W element maintains the selected temperature and will provide a strong steam output also. Whilst on the subject of steam, the extra large easy to fill water tank gives a continual high steam performance, without having to fill the tank too often. With the amount of ironing I have to do , I guess the minimum of two water fills are ... Read review
